View Quote Um RED DAWN And since we are here: ALIENS, BLADE RUNNER, DIE HARD (coincidentally, also has a character named Hans Gruber). There is much competition for “one of the best”... ETA: Reanimator was based on an HP Lovecraft story - I didn’t remember that. |

And then there's this
Roy Orbison - In dreams - from the movie Blue Velvet |

Jeffrey Combs is a good actor. I liked him on "Enterprise" as Shran the Andorian, and saw him later on DS9 reruns.

If you liked Re-Animator, try to find The Resurrected. It's a 1991 film that's a closer adaptation of the short story Re-Animator is based on, The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward by H.P. Lovecraft.

Quoted: War Games was good, too View Quote I'm convinced WarGames was a prequel, after those events, David Lightman was put into witness protection, he was renamed Ferris Bueller. In both movies he hacks school computers, in WarGames to change his grades, in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, to change attendance and other's grades. In both movies, his mom is a real estate agent. When he was war-dialing in WarGames, he gets a bank, he says I'll have to save that for later, that's how he funded Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Cameron was actually his handler, to keep him from getting in trouble, which is why he was so much older. |

Add Videodrome to the list. James Woods at his finest, Debbie Harry nekkid.... and almost prophetic.

My 13 yr old son, like most kids these days, would prefer to watch gamers goof around on Twitch than sit through a movie . . . but I've slowly been getting him to sit through my favorites of the 80's and 90's. On Saturday wife, son and I were trying to find a movie for family movie night. My wife hates older movies. My son announced that he only wanted to watch something from the 80's. I was pretty proud. We wound up watching Tread, followed by Starship Troopers (movie of the 90's, but I'll allow it - wife sat that one out, my son loved it. He also got to hear me talk about the controversy over that one from both Heinlein purists and antifascist wackjobs).
He and I also watched "I Come in Peace" recently - with Dolph Lundgren and featuring a Calico as the alien space weapon. He loved it. I want to hunt down "The Hidden" next. Great movie Oh, and Reanimator kicks ass. |
