I drove through Las Vegas, NM and spent a couple hours driving around and seeing 80% of the filming locations. VERY cool.

Saw it on base at Fort Lewis and the cheers at times were deafening. It was just what we needed after a frustrating and exhausting Cold War. We needed to pop a little steam.

I saw it during the first week it was out while I was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa. There was a strip mall theater just off base, I remember how stoked I was coming out of the movie. Kill a commie for mommie! The Cold War was very real and menacing at that time.

One of the definitive "You had to be there"-type movies. Saw it in the mid-80's, as a teenage boy who was into guns and military stuff. It was the greatest thing ever.
Watched it recently, and I kept asking myself why I loved such a mediocre movie so much. But I do. When I watch it, I don't watch it as it is, I watch it as it was... and it was glorious. In the immortal words of Wayne Campbell...  SHWING! |

It is a shame he had that stroke. 1984 Red Dawn Cut footage courtesy of actor Radames Pera who played the captured Soviet paratrooper.  Radames Pera in "Red Dawn" with a never before seen outtake!    Other cut scenes: Love scene between Col. Tanner and Erica. A small snippet is seen in the theatrical trailer.  The flowers on Tanner's uniform were from after.  Jed and friends were helping feed the locals.  McDonald's restaurant. Notice the price chart.
