6 hour demonstration seems to suggest they are going to test an upper stage modification for direct geostationary insertion (probably for Falcon Heavy, I don't think F9's direct GEO payload would be worth it). Six hours is about how long it takes to reach apogee in a GTO orbit.

In all fairness, the government gave all the plans for the start up companies of all the rocketry done since 1969, so it was much easier at the beginning, private companies don't have all the red tape

Like I said earlier, SpaceX has a very busy 2020 planned. They have ~24 Starlink launches planned, ~4 ISS missions including manned missions, 2-3 GPS satellites, an AF Falcon Heavy launch in the fall, 5-8 commercial geostationary comsats, and more. All told like 40-45 launches.
