Apparently the Lions gave a one year deal to OE Tyler Conklin. Not sure what to think about that other then a depth piece. |

He's been in the NFL for 5 seasons, and he's started 78 out of 85 possible games. I don't have a good number for how many of these games he played through injury, but at least he's on the field. |

Their roster is one of the most stacked in the league, and bringing in a reliable vet like Waddle can make life easier for Nix while they're in his rookie contract window. As far as draft capital goes, their 1st rounder is #30. That's much more palatable than giving up a higher pick than #16. And while they're also giving up their 3rd and 4th round picks (94 & 130), they still have #108 (round 4, pick 8) which they got from the Saints, so they don't have a huge hole there. Another piece of this is that Waddle is currently 27, he turns 28 in November, and he is already 2 years into his deal, so Miami should have already eaten a bunch of the bonus cost. And... OTC updated their info on Waddle as I was typing this. He has low cap numbers for 2026 and 2029, his hits in 2027 and 2028 are $27M and $29M respectively, and his APY is llsted at $28M. That's miles away from top of the position guys like Chase, Jefferson, and Lamb. |

I'm a Bronco fan, and am undecided about this trade. Waddle was definitely what I would consider a WR1 - his rookie year. Since then his production hasn't matched in any way what he did as a rookie, or my expectations for a WR1. He hasn't been targeted 100 times a season, catch percentage hasn't been above 70%, yards per catch failing to reach 15 yards per reception. Waddle was drafted sixth in the first round, so what the Broncos paid in terms of draft picks is less than what it took Miami to get him originally, the 30th pick in the first round plus a 3rd round 30th place pick and exchange of fourth round picks won't get you close to the sixth first round pick in a trade of just draft picks; but like I said Waddle hasn't really produced after his rookie year the way he was expected to produce as the sixth pick in the draft. Is that the fault of Waddle, or of the Miami offense with Tua's constant injuries? We'll just have to see what Waddle produces in the Denver offense, which with a new play caller hopefully will not be so conservative and insistent on throwing away plays by calling wide receiver screens and will actually use the players they add, which they didn't last season with Engram. |

As a dolphins fan……. Consider his qb. Consider tyreek hill. Waddle was THE target his first year. After that he was not. Until hill got hurt. And Tua started playing like ass. Waddle is fast. Good hands. Good at getting open. And not really injury prone. I’m a dolphins fan. And I held my breath every time he got creamed taking a shot over the middle. But he got up and continued on. Dozens of plays I was like, welp, he is hurt. But he would get up and keep going. Is he quite as fast as his rookie year? Na. Still pretty fast. And his deal was speed open for medium gain. The dolphins switched to short pass gains focus. It hurt waddles numbers. I like Denver. I’m excited to still root for waddle in most games Denver plays. I think he will be great. Not holy crap best WR in the league. But great. |

Just watched the YouTube video below, and one of the statistics that really concerns me is one showing that 40% of Waddle 's catches have come in the intermediate depth, middle of the field; a zone that the Bronco's receivers last year consistently caught only 12-13% of their receptions. You can look at this stat two ways, that Waddle will be providing the Broncos with receptions in a zone that they haven't had before, improving the offense. Or that the Broncos just barely use that zone of the field and so won't be throwing to Waddle very much; causing him to have very bad statistics and not provide much to the Broncos offense. This is what happened to Evan Engram last year. Brought in as a free agent to play "Joker", a big fast receiver that could line up at tight end, split end, H-back and get isolated on a linebacker and easily beat him with his speed - Engram runs a 4.4 40 yard. Instead of being sent deep, Engram ended up with the standard blocking tight end Average Depth of Target of 4.4 yards for last season; meaning instead of using his speed and being sent deep he was running standard tight end short crossing routes and tight end screens. Payton may do the same thing to Waddle, waste him on Payton's favorite play of a wide receiver screen, which the Broncos can't seem to be able to find anyone who can block (I think they picked up Jordan Humphries last season just to block on this play); and is far from where Waddle excels. I always viewed as unfortunate for Waddle that he's had to play behind Tyreek Hill, and that he would be a No. 1 on most teams. This year Hill was out of the way early, but for whatever reason Tua wasn't good and the McDaniel game plan was just get it to Achane 20-30 times a game and see what happens, so I still don't know if it was Waddle or the team that stopped him from having a breakout last year. |
