Wonder if Ukrainian armor folks might put fake Zs on as needed to hide from Russian attacks?
How much of the Russian military is tied up in this? It seems like they pulled units from the Russian Far East. That would seem to make them vulnerable to a billion screaming Chinamen, unless say, they have an agreement, or just relying on nukes for a deterrent? |

We couldn’t “hide” our build-up to Iraq in 2003 either; it wasn’t exactly a secret. You also can’t compare this to, say, the secrecy of the Normandy landings. The troops were already staged in the UK, the Germans knew we were coming, the only secrecy was when and exactly where. Which remains a secret to us now…none of us know when Russia might invade or how much they would take. |

My wife just got off Skype with her parents in Ukraine, north east of Odessa. No one seems super concerned, and they said everything was normal. It's my FIL's birthday today, so I'm sure the party will be rolling for a while. It would suck to be hungover when it kicks off, hoping it's not happening tonight.

I watched the latest S2underground video talking about the pontoon bridge. My guess is that they are using it for mainly as traning with a small amount of deception (placement - would not want to train where they intend to actually use). They will need bridges in the north for follow-on logistics. I would not be surprised if they are practicing and timing how quickly to put up given current conditions (hence up, then down and now back).
There are a lot Tick-Tok videos of Russia but I'm surprised what little is coming out of Ukraine. The little coverage I see where they are trying to show off quality equipment in Ukraine it just seems sparse. One could say they are trying to practice good opsec but the satellite coverage and humint that Russia has is likely telling them what they need to know. I have a bad feeling about Ukraine getting in artillery duels with Russia but I hope I'm wrong (some of the Russian EW systems look like they might be counterfire radar but I don't know - I wonder if Ukraine has any). My guess is Russia might to take out cables, internet and other modes of communication to prevent or at least make it difficult for the west in assisting with tactical intelligence. |
