Been searching for the rye for a while now, the Smokehead was just a bonus. I need to start killing some bottles, I'm running out of room in the cabinet.

Rare breed is so good. Occasionally I'll find it for $40, but usually $45. Rye is closer to $60.

Had a "tasting" charity event last Thursday. It was hands down the best offering.

Went hunting for Remus V today, got luck at the last of 7 stores we went to

So I bought 2

The A107 was luck, and I bought it since we never see them around here in KY.

Anybody seen any Maker's FAE-02?

I hear it has been released in some areas.

The FAE-01 was pretty good.

No pictures today.  Went to my normal haunt and all kinds of goodies.  Shelf prices are going up due to cost and also to keep the secondary sellers from clearing the shelves.  He adjusted the prices on my purchases, but still noticably higher than last year. Picked up a bottle of Blanton's, Booker's 2021-3, Bib and Tucker 6 year small batch and a couple Old Elk versions including Sherry and Port casks.

Left for others or another day: Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Crown Peach and several others.

Who wants to go in on a barrel pick?  Have an opportunity for a "The Last Drop Distiller's" barrel selection of blended scotch...

Per their pricing guidelines, it's average is $4024...for a total barrel cost of $824,920

That has still been unobtainable for me here in NC.

I have about 8-9 bottles of Weller 12 left from a few years ago when I found it at retail price in two different stores that just put it on the shelf. It is my all time favorite and I have had all of the Pappy's.  That and Pappy 12 would take a serious palate to tell the difference.

Really now?

I LOVE 107, but I look at it as a drinker, not something I try to pick apart. I’ll give the 12 a more serious try.

Weller 12 and Pappy Lot B  are the same mash bill. When they are ready to bottle the casks they divide them based on taste to be  as consistent as possible.  Antique 107 and Old Rip Van Winckle 10 are they same mashbill as well. 107 I have a lot of as well (easier to get here in NC) I have done tastings with friends who cannot tell them apart. But like I said a serious palate might be different. That is the reason 107 became allocated several years ago , a reporter here in Charlotte wrote about the same mash bill and how the factory decided which one got which label, and overnight the shelves went bare.  Another favorite of mine is Weller Special Reserve however since NC is a stae regulated liquor state it is not available for some reason anywhere.  I have been fortunate enought to find it in SC, GA and FL.
