I don't see a single spice on any of these last three images. So yeah, I'm going with bland. |

op showed pics of food that looks like it needs a shit ton of salt and pepper
|

You say they don't do spices, the first pic you show has pepper on the eggs
If they didn't do that, you did, which proves that it is indeed bland Edit: that bacon looks like microwaved turkey jerky |

No one ever-
We should go out to a nice British restaurant for dinner! |

British food is dogshit.
Every time I've been with UK troops in the US they want to eat at Texas Roadhouse every day. |

British have good hangover food.
Hearty, greasy, but no overwhelming flavors to upset the boose-ravaged stomach. So yes, bland is the standard. |

Quoted: Quoted: England conquered the entire goddamn world in the search for spices, then failed to use any of them. Wrong. They conquered the entire known world for money. They didn't give a single solitary fuck about how they made that money. |

Quoted: England conquered the entire goddamn world in the search for spices, then failed to use any of them. View Quote Pretty ironic. The country literally controlled the spice trade world fucking wide but the odds of finding a British cook that knows fuck all about spices is nearly zero. When you understand that salt, and by extension, MSG are flavor enhancers it’s easy to know why the food in the USA has more flavor. Another thing to remember is when eating airplane food it has tons more sodium than any restaurant because they are fighting with the fact your taste buds don’t work the same at the higher altitude. |

Quoted: You’re just not looking at it right. Every nation has a “signature” dish and how they prepare the majority of their foods. The folks in the UK, being primarily island farmers and livestock herders don’t do spices (there’s takeaway for that). It’s all primarily cooked in gravy or other sauce (the spiciest Being mint sauce served with lamb). English food is delicious and to proclaim its bland is ignorant. https://i.postimg.cc/hPMVCsjH/IMG-5093.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/N02Tjw4c/IMG-5099.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/T1Jnvqc5/IMG-5100.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/4ygp0FpT/IMG-5101.jpg It’s not bland at all. You just need to open Your horizons. End rant Side note: some of the best restaurants in the world are in London. And yes, they serve French food View Quote Where'd the china come from? |

Yeah, virtually the entire professional culinary world disagrees with that sentiment. And anyone else with a palate.

Aside from the mashed potatoes, that shit looks like it's pretty bland. Those beans don't look good, and they're on top of an egg?

Pasties are good stuff. So are fish and chips. That's pretty much my only experience with English food (not counting "American" food that has its roots in English cuisine).
Oh, and English muffins aren't bad either. |

In the whole of the history of human consciousness, never has a personal opinion been wrong, but yours just was, OP

I love me a full English with Marmite or Vegemite
. Beans in tomato sauce with cheddar on toast is also decent. |

It's been just shy of 40 years since I spent about a month there.
I had some really tasty stuff that has stuck in my mind ever since. So many great curries and other Indian food, great Italian from places where only one or two people working there could communicate with the customers, those kinds of things. Otherwise, it's where I learned to ask for ketchup to make the beans edible in the signature English breakfast and to look upon the pickle in country pub Ploughman's Lunch with suspicion. Some of those things were far from bland. |
|

I don't recognise any of the horrible shit on these pages.
Honestly, the nearer to London you are, the shit tier the food is, and always has been. I'm off to my local pub for Sunday lunch and a few pints. Here's the menu. https://www.chefandbrewer.com/pubs/lancashire/spread-eagle/menu |

The Germans should have dropped cookbooks

Quoted: There are a million Chinese take out places in the US. The are a million pizza and hoagie take out places in the US. There are plenty of other ethnic food take out places in the US. AFAIK there are few if any British food take out places. Arthur Treachers was popular for a while, but I have no idea how it compared to a real British fish and chip place. View Quote Yep, Brit food is bleh. Now meat pies in Scotland can be very good. |

They built an empire that circled the globe to control the flow of spices yet, none of them seems to have made it to the home island…
