10/10. Looks like the food I used to get in the S. Bronx (except it was 1/2 a pollo). Those maduros look perfect. God I miss that shit..

Looks good. Cuban food is one of the few things that I miss since leaving Florida.

It cost 10 dollars in New Port Richey but it's big enough for the wife and me to share. Draft beer is 2 dollars in a 16 oz solo cup.

I don't know what some of that stuff is, but I'd pay $9 for it and I'd eat it.

I loved that my job took me to Miami, Puerto Rico and Tampa quite a bit.
I worked TDY in Tampa for 5 years. Pipo's Restaurant (Tampa) was less than a mile from our office. I ate there at least twice a week. $5 meals back then (apparently $9 now) and enought food that I ate the leftovers for Supper. In PR running Hurricane restoration crews, I gave my buddy (a local) $20 an told him to surprise me with some unusual PR cuisine. He brought back 4 different items and change. The thing I remember the most was the blood sausage. |

Lunch at La Niña in Marathon is good. Filling at a similar price (two can share a meal) and authentic Cuban food. About 80% of the menu is the same with one or two different main dishes changed daily.

The first thing my wife and I do when we get to Miami is hit up a local hole in the wall Cuban diner.

My wife really misses the Cuban code and Cuban sandwiches we had on vacation in Little Havana.
I miss staring at the Latinas. |
|
I'd love to try real Cuban cuisine sometime.
I mean, I've been to Cuba but that hardly counts. |

The absolute best food I have ever had in my life, and let me remind you, I live in Louisiana, 40 miles from New Orleans, was at LaCaretta in Little Havana, Miami
I was blown away by the taste, seasoning and quality. The Yuca Croquettes were outstanding |
|
That's pretty much all they have to eat there! I had at least one meal like that every day in Havana! Doesn't seem like much, but it was always good. |

Please, for the love of God, take that to Ohio and show those jackholes how it's done.

Not bad but its not La Granja. But La Granja is Peruvian. Styles are close though

My son lives in Tampa. There's a little Cuban restaurant (La Bamba) not far from his office where he and I ate when I visited a couple weeks ago. I had something similar to the OP's meal for not much more than what he paid. It was a heck of a good meal.
I also ate at the Columbia restaurant in Sand Key a couple times while there. It was a LOT more expensive, but it, too, was so damn good. |

The first time I got take out at a blue collar Cuban cafeteria style place in Drew park (By TIA) back in the early eighties the server just piled the rice for my choice of Ropa vieja on and on and on in the container just staring at me. My Cuban buddy from work elbowed me and informed me you have to nod to the server when you have enough rice. lol, different world back then.

I haven't been to the Columbia on 7th ave in many years, but I bet they sell the same dinner for over thirty dollars.
