Voted APC 223, but a Galil is very compelling once you take price into account- especially if it is just going to be a range toy.
ETA: A Daewoo K2 could be another option. That has always been one of my grail 5.56 guns. |

Bren 2’s are kinda ghetto. The lower is hokey as fuck.
B&T is just a knock off SCAR, just like how the rest of their guns are. (Unless they get a cease and desist and just buy the design.) The Franklin ACR might not be out for a long time. The SCAR just hadn’t aged well to me, specifically the lack of modularity for a modular rifle. Does anyone even make a barrel for them? If they do, does it cost less than half the cost of another entire rifle? Id go with the SIG MCX or the G36 from your choices. |

Or, if you want to get weird, I think the most underrated configuration for a 5.56 AR is an 18" barrel, a rifle length gas system, and an adjustable stock. The net result is something just a bit longer than a typical AR carbine, but with ballistics and a recoil impulse much closer to a 20" rifle. |

If you're looking at the G36 consider the VHS2. It's essentially a bullpupified G36, although, almost unbelievably, it still manages to have a better trigger than the G36.

Bren 2 or Springfield Hellion. Buddy has a Bren 2 and loves it. Another buddy is ditching his AUG after getting a Hellion, and is looking for a second Hellion. Both are arfcommers with nice things.

I had a Daewoo K2 which was an awesome rifle.... however spare parts are now non-existent Look at an IWi ACE....my gen1 is a neat rifle However though don't knock the Mini 14, the newer ones aren't a terrible rifle at all |
