I hope this company fails miserably.  Funded by Peter Thiel of Paypal fame.

EXCLUSIVE: World's first $1,500 'Smart Gun' that has facial recognition and fingerprint unlock to go on sale in US in MONTHS - and it's maker hopes to revolutionize firearm safety.  The $1,499 smart gun’s barrel is twice the size of a regular handgun at 9mm. It has a dock equipped with a touchscreen that pairs your face with the gun.

Video embedded at link.

Bio stuff is coming like it or not.  This technology can be useful in certain situations.  I'm not interested in it personally, but this will be all over duty weapons in the future.

We did this a while back when it was on forgotten weapons.

And the only people who want these is people who don’t own guns and want them banned, hence why they can only sell if they’re mandated

They will fail miserably.  That’s what happens when a non-gun owner tries to “revolutionize” the industry.

He simply doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

Even “The Sun” was calling out all the issues with his shitty ass idea.

when every law enforcement in America adopts this technology on ALL of their firearms, I may consider buying one.

Until then fuck that

Or a secret back door that lets other "Entities" control access to your weapon.  With the ability to turn it off at will.

No thanks

I recall the "Magna Trigger", one of the first "smart" locks.  Ayoob demonstrated it in a class I attended years ago.  Even that relatively simple device reduces reliability.  He had it installed in "Fluffy", his model 66 (?), which had a very nice light polished action.

Jesus Christ I know American reporters are dumb, but for fuck's sake British journos should be prohibited upon pain of death from ever attempting to write technical details about firearms.

More than the naked biases and unabashed editorializing that pervades the industry, the inability to not fuck up the most basic information is what makes me distrust journalistic media.

Wait for the first law suit when a victims partner grabs the gun to protect them and it won't arm or fire...hopefully they own the company when the suit is over and they burn it to the ground...

If Democrats truly support this technology to make us safer, then they can easily mandate that all US Military and Federal LE (to include POTUS SS detail) have to implement it in their firearms.

There's a neat trick to finding threads. Don't use the site search. Use Google, type in some keywords of what you are looking for followed by site:ar15.com and it'll usually bring up a bunch of threads.

Sow how I found all those threads I just typed in:

"New smart gun site:ar15.com" and then I did a second search for, "biofire site:ar15.com" without the quotes.

Anything controlled by electronics could be jammed up.  Whether that is communication systems, automobiles, bank accounts, or firearms, all it takes is someone or some government motivated to find a way to jam things up, and the owner of such a controlled device would be quite helpless until/unless they figure a way to jam the jammer.

If civilians would have access to some miniature sort of "wild weasel" type anti-jamming systems..      Oh well, George Orwell and 1984 continues to sound more like a prediction than a fantasy book.

so in others words unusable in a sweating, muddy, dirty, rainy, bloody or gloved situation, and low light / dark or bent elbow shooting in low light or just plain dead battery will prevent this firearm from functioning.

Fuck these people and their communist agendas.

Doesn't NJ have a law on the books that as soon as something like this is available  no non-smart guns can be sold?
