Family members have loved Bosch.  Hard to get right now.
One friend sells GE and pushes them.
Another does all things Samsung.

Budget is up to 700- 800 give or take.
Looking for quiet as possible up to that price and dependable of course.

Might be easier to say what to stay away from.   Any input on manufacturers or models?

I had poor luck with the low end Bosch. I have a high end Thermador branded Bosch and it has been great.  Buying 2 more and they are available.

Get rid of the dish washer and put in a wine fridge.  Fits perfectly.  Easier just to wash the dishes.  Easier still if you have kids.

Avoid any LG or Samsung appliances. Hard to find parts and a service technician.
And if you are buying Kenmore, make sure it is not a rebadged LG or Samsung.

Most appliance parts are all made in China. if they say it was Made in the USA,
it is probably Assembled in the USA of Chinese parts.

Bought a nice commercial Maytag washer. Had a 1 year warranty. It broke after 14 months.

This spring, we went into the store to get a Bosch, came home with a kitchen aid kdtm404kps. Looks like current prices are higher than what you were asking. I think we got it on sale for somewhere around $850, but can’t remember exactly. Really happy with the purchase and can’t believe how quiet it is. I have nothing bad to say about Bosch, the kitchen aid just seemed like a better fit and features for us.

had samsung water wall -> super quiet, decently washed the dishes, but the waterwall motor broke after 2 years, fixed it, broke again after 1.5 years, fixed it broke again, threw the dish washer and got bosch.

not as quiet, not as fancy, but works fine.

Same answer as always.

Miele.

Get the third rack for silverware. Yeah, I didn’t believe it either, but way better than a basket.

Otherwise, US made Maytag or Kitchenaid with stainless interior.

We have a kitchen aid. Wife seems to like it.  Dishes are clean. It hasn’t broke.

Looked at the Bosch and GE, my buddy bought the bosch the year before and although quiet, did not clean the dishes well.  GE is all stainless, and DB level equivalent to bosch, so we have the GE.  Zero regrets, quiet, washes well, no issues.

It's been said but I'll say it again.  Avoid Samsung at all costs.

When we moved in to our house we bought range, fridge, dishwasher, washer, & dryer.  Of course we got a good deal on everything being samsung but it was a huge mistake.

Ice maker kept freezing up, known problem, and now completely quit working.
Range display has everything lighting up and dancing around.  Still works though.
Dishwasher has a draining problem and we have to pre-rinse dishes to get them clean.

All of this in only 4 years.

I live alone.
DW gets run about once a week.
DWs are very good at removing fresh waste on dishes.
Some better than others.
Non e of them do all that well with stuff that has dried and sat around for a few days.
The rotting waste can also make the DW stink.

Heavy rinsing except the the final days dishes that will be run right away works.

Do not get Samsung.

Mine broke at 1 year and 2 days.  They told me to go fuck myself.

$300 for a technician to look at it, and goes up from there.  For a $500 dishwasher.  Fuck that noise.

Got the part, took it apart and fixed it.

Died 4 years later.  Fuck em.  Never buying a Samsung branded appliance again.

The high end Bosch units are so quiet you cannot tell if they are running.

They added lights to some that shine on the floor in front of the unit.

Some others have caught up, but Bosch still is best.
