Go over there and see what’s going on.

Are you sure it's the Navy SEALs or a bunch of thugs using a WISH switch rear plate on their Fortay?

I can relate OP!
I went camping at Hawk Mountain in North Georgia earlier this year. Each night about 2 hours after sunset the whole area West and North of me was getting lit up with flares and you could here simulated artillery or grenades and small arms. There was vehicle traffic on the roadways and I'm quite sure there was air support of various kinds, but I couldn't see them from our camp site. They train Rangers up here, but who knows who is here at any given time doing some mountain training. It's fun to listen to until you're ready for some shut eye and the crew served weapons start cutting loose. LOL! |

View Quote A weekend fly fishing trip to the Au Sable river near Grayling MI was like that years ago. Camped out in my rental van, and around midnight you could hear the 155s, 105s, maybe 203s too, and the chain guns or 50s on the AFVs. Went on for an hour or more. Pretty neat, and didn't mind being woke up by it. The next morning on the stream, a couple loaches and maybe a cobra or two come just above tree top high following the river. Neat trip and the fishing was better on Sunday too. I remember every so often on abc network news back then , they would report about some stray rounds that would land in peoples front yard or sidewalk (duds maybe, don't remember about any making a big crater) Does the NG still use Grayling? |

When I lived in Covington I’d always heard there was a team that was loosely stationed in south Miss.

It’s probably SWCC. The SEALs wouldn’t be caught dead in LA, no one there has the reading level to read one of their books.
I miss our hunting camp in Enterprise, helicopters flying around, and nothing like listening to aerial gunnery while drinking whiskey. |

If 77Bronc lives where I think he does, Camp Villere (LA. Nat Guard) is due East about 5 miles, and some other guys are due Easter by about 15 miles

I worked with a Sgt who was a SEAL, and he told me they had a habit of getting drunk , then load up shit loads of 40mm, and everything they could haul, boat out to San Clemente Island, get even more drunk while they shot everything. reminds me of being in southern orange county (CA) and one night hearing what i knew for sure was mortar fire coming from the south. wtf? mortars? in a post-9/11 world, of course my first thought was a terrorist invasion
luckily camp pendleton had made a public announcement picked up by the media saying - we're running drills tonight including mortars and stuff so dont shit your pants. |

Reminds of HI. I lived on one of the islands that was remote and sometimes we'd be camping up in the hills and 2-3 blackhawks would come screaming over to insert some socom people (I guess they were SEALs, but I don't know) into the jungle since it was basically impossible to get in or out without a helicopter.
MARSOC did training at our base too. I got to observe a few of those inserts. I'll never forget just how quick those guys disappeared. Through thick kiawe too. (Very spiny trees). |
