What is everyone using for navigation in their sxs's?
I recently got a Honda Talon and am finding that i want some kind of navigation system. Or at least something with gps and satalite imagery. I was thinking of some kind of tablet and mounting it in the cab with a waterproof case and using google maps or OnX, but want to know what is working for other people first before i jerry rig something together.

bonus internet points for something that fits or is made for the talon. I already moved the "gage cluster" to the steering wheel and have switches for my accessories where that used to be. Theres a cubby right below it that looks like someone can mount something.

I use Gaia GPS on my phone for navigation but OnX is getting popular. I think Gaia has more options and detail. Whereas OnX is dumbed down and simple to use.

A Gaia example:

I also have Avenza GPS with various free National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) already loaded into it.
Avenza is really easy to read for getting Forest Service Road numbers, without my glasses, but is very basic.

I have Bullet Point Mounting Systems in my Jeep Wrangler & Ford F150. They have options for side by sides.

In my Jeep I went with a Ram Mount on the BPMS base. I find the Ram mount annoying as it take 2 hands to put my phone in it. I've also had my phone come out of the mount on a really bouncy road / trail a couple times. It does come with a rubber strap to keep your phone from flying out. However I lost that strap years ago and have no interest in replacing it.

The complete BPMS mount in my F150 works way better as I can put my phone into it with 1 hand and it's rock solid.

how do those ball joints stay in place when traversing roks or slamming thru bumpy terrain?

They are bolted down tight. The base is bolted down to the underside of the dash. No issues with either the base or ball joints.
Off roading just about weekly since 2019.

Race car maverick has a Garmin tread 2 and a Garmin Tread Baja Race
Speed has a Garmin Tread Baja Race
Prerunner uses a Lowrance

Get a Garmin. You can draw routes on your phone and they bluetooth sync to the device. They have roads, topo, satellite, etc.

while all that is sweet, i don't know if it would be appropriate to spend that kind of money for me doing this a half dozen times a year for fun with the wife and kids. lol

I got bulletpoint phone holder like drobs suggested and will compare google maps gps and the 7 day free trial of onx off road.

The Tread 2 is pretty cheap, $699 on amazon.

It's wayyyy better than any iPad app including LeadNav

That said if you want an iapd app check out LeadNav
