Subscribed. I'm going to spice up my name here. Larry is kind of boring and not even my real name. My boss was the Beaver so he dubbed me Larry Mondello. Some TV show thing..........

Quoted: What is the point of changing name if member ID stays the same? View Quote The point of the name change isn't to remove your history or change who you are, it's just to allow folks with names more closely tied to their real names to be able to hide them better. In short, a guy named Goatboy would waste a name change while someone with JAvila might want to change it. (To Goatboy!) This isn't going to alter anything other than your board (public) name. That's it. If you are worried about everything you shared, you have a bigger issue than a name change will handle. It's also a bit late to panic. Most folks aren't in any danger at this point. It's the people who post stupid things online like threats, racism, etc which MAY become targets. This isn't just for this site, it's the larger target placed on all Conservatives. I don't believe in hiding because odds are they already know who you are. |

I simply re-used a username that I had at the time on some Harley forum that I never go to anymore.
I didn't care because I was just in it for some quick AR maintenance info and reloading info. Little did I know at the time that GD would become my obsession and my sole reason for existance. I'm not a biker, I'm a motorcyclist. And I'm not a nut. I'm actually normal. I'd change my username, but I'm afraid of fucking it up. I'd keep my NorCal call sign, though. |

Now I'm a S & W Shield fiend and don't even own a Glock. I need a name change just for truth in advertising. |

All of arfcom needs to do some variation of aimless in their name
Think of how epic that would be if every single person did that. |

View Quote That being said, while some members might feel more comfortable donning a new identity, there already exists AI algorithms that can identify people based on writing habits with relatively high accuracy. We collectively have been feeding big tech with data for decades, with few warning of the potential repercussions of that. The chickens are coming home to roost. |

View Quote You are uses 518181... if that doesn't change all somebody needs to do is create a database from a pre-name change cache and compare it to a post-name change live site. With computers, probably not too hard. |
