If any of the guns were stolen then yeah, arrest them and return the guns to their owners, otherwise who cares. NYPD is almost as gay as the fbi.

So most are probably stolen hunting and sporting firearms, by druggie son to support his habit, and a lot of that ammo is from the 1960s and 70s. There probably will be little attempt to return them to the rightful owners even if they were properly reported to law enforcement as stolen.
