That is on his pocket knife. The old ways aren't completely dead.

Be sure he learns about burning ants, too.

I did the same. Ants and green army men didn’t stand a chance.

He sounds ready for match stick guns.
I did them a little different where they would light as they shoot.

He got a late start but that's ok. Had all this tech shit been around in the 70's I probably wouldn't have gotten to burning shit with the power of the sun until later in life either.

Thats about the age I decided to hit a 209 primer with a hammer and screwdriver at face level on a barnstone wall.

How I didn't lose an eye is a miracle.

I never understood the fascination of burning ants with a magnifying glass. I used kerosene for bigger flames.

I wasn't much older than that when I learned that, while it is easy to ignite black powder with a magnifying glass, it is impossible to get your hand away before being singed.

Back when .22 was like $0.000001 a round, we would pull the bullet, crimp the end, and hit them with a hammer. I think I still have brass in my shin.

Hitting a roll of caps with a hammer is not advisable.

LOL, I was severely beaten by Sister Theresa, my 4th grade teacher, for burning ants during recess.  I would never have guessed that skinny old bitch could have hit that hard

I used a bb gun to shoot a .22 short round in the primer. That hurt.

Yeah or we might have constructed something far more destructive. By 9 I had learned about fire crackers in copper tubing launching pebbles.

Ah, yes. Chucked-up an emptied 20ga shell in a vise. Hammer and nail. Wanted to see how big the "flame" would be.

The nail/prime cup combo bounced of my left hand thumb and forefinger before lodging in the garage roof. Biggest blood blisters I've ever had. Couldn't hear my mother yelling at me til my ears stopped ringing. Kind of a one-and-done sort of thing...

I was very familiar with the one on the second row from the right, 4th one down. Orange patch. I swear,  i think you had to be at least 6-1 to get on with them. I was a teenager when I was there.  71-74. 4 years. Paradise.
