So I'm relocating from AZ to GA as a sole proprietor 07/02. Got my new FFL premises set up in GA and on Memorial Day will be pointing my pickup east and hitting I-40.

My personal and business firearms are inventoried and crated in large military transit crates and those are sealed with metal zip ties. The crates will be in a fully enclosed U-haul trailer with a security chain going through crate and case handles and locked to the trailer interior.

My biggest concern is not theft from some ne'erdowell, it is getting stopped and grilled on the side of the road by Johnny Law. I have all my old FFL paperwork and records but don't have my new FFL in hand, it is in my mailbox in GA.

Other than not consenting to search and not bringing up what's in the trailer, any other tips for minimizing the chances of getting everything searched on the side of the road and having to explain that yes, this grenade launcher, that claymore, and those beltfeds really are legal and these are not the droids you are looking for?

Will be doing initial and periodic walk arounds of the vehicle and trailer to ensure all lights are working and nothing is an equipment violation.

Will have an M4, machine pistol, and Serbu Super Shorty in the cab with me.

Am taking I-40 to avoid the border patrol checkpoints on I-10.

You're gonna have to go through Memphis.

Keep a round in the chamber and good luck.

Nope. Bridge is closed over the MS river. Going to divert south to 20 after Amarillo and pick up 20 in Dallas.

"My biggest concern is not theft from some ne'erdowell,..."

That actually should be your biggest concern if you're staying at a hotel or somewhere on the road overnight.
I've done a bunch of cross state moves over the years, and I've had my U-haul fucked with more than once while I was sleeping.
Once they crowbarred off the lock, found all my worthless junk, and didn't take anything

Put cheap vinyl signs on your trailer that say "Fresh cut flowers" delivered blah blah blah with a bogus phone number. Nothing of value here. Move along.

Good Choice Wingnut. Let me know when you come through Dallas and I'll buy you some BBQ. And where in Ga are you headed to. Father was from Keysville.

Headed to Grayson, just outside Lawrenceville. I'd take you up on the BBQ, but it is a family caravan and we gotta make Bossier City by the evening of the 1st.

The M4, machine pistol, and Serbu is going to be more prone to getting you a search from Johnny law than a U-Haul trailer.
If you are convoying with other vehicles I think I would just forgo any firearms in your cab and let your convoy provide your fire support if needed.

Not that having a gun is PC for a search but you aren't really in a position to argue if officer friendly decides that a roadside search is in order.

Just be an ordinary guy moving from state to state.

Don't worry. This is America and those fine police officers are there to protect and serve. In fact, they may proved a light and siren escort all the way to your destination.

Like someone above said, it's where you stop for the night.

check the tires over good on the trailer and don't carry the m4 in the cab with you.  Just carry your daily carry pistol and drive like normal.

How was the trip?

3 long days of driving and two shitty hotels. But, I got to stop at my first Buc-ee's and my power wagon got 12.2 mpg average towing the 12ft trailer over the whole trip, even taking mountains into account.

Now I'm trying to get everything out of boxes and pester ATF for my FFL which hasn't showed up yet.
