Is worth the 3+ hr sit. A great addition to America's Gangster film catalogue.
Yes DeNiro sucks blah blah blah, most of them do these days. But the story is well told and thought provoking. |
I have heard it is a GREAT movie, I cannot stand Dinero, so I will not be spending my money on it. Fuck that guy right in the neck.
For a second I thought you meant Kill the Irishman. That was a great movie.
Supporting this movie is the same thing as supporting DeNiro. I think DeNiro might be a transgender. He looks like a man but acts like he has a pussy?

1917, Midway... this movie... A ton of good movies coming out this time of year.... surprisingly. I'm definitely planning on seeing this.

Been waiting on this - looks like it'll be a Goodfellas type of movie with old school actors.
Since it's 3 + hours long it'll be a night time watch for me. I don't give a fuck about that old guys politics, just entertain me. |
Hey, did you here that Scorsese and De Niro made another movie about mobsters?
No shit? When was the last time they made a movie about anything BUT mobsters. They can complain about SuperHero Movies all day long, but I'd rather watch ANTMAN than another movie about mobsters doing mobster shit, again. |
I saw a poster outside the theater the other day.
I am afraid of bedbugs. I don't go to theaters. Fuckin' basketball hoops |
I’ve been waiting for this to come out so I finally drop Netflix.
Read the book, interesting story. |
Just downloaded it on my Netflix app now! Gonna try to watch it tonight with the fam!

Watched it, holy fuck its long.
It was good though, pretty funny. |
As I said in one of the other threads it's not boring but it isn't Godfather, Goodfellas or Casino riveting.
Half way through, it's decent so far.
Def seems to be lacking the gangster aspect from Casino but not bad so far |
I'm going to watch it when I get home, and I want all you virtue signalers to slurp country gravy off my big meaty drumstick.
Happy Thanksgiving, pussies. |

Wow, let me guess, did it have an extensive soundtrack of contemporary pop songs that drowned out the dialogue?
It was good. Not on the level of Goodfellas by any means, but still well worth watching. What struck me most about Deniro’s performance is that while they can make him look like he’s younger, they can’t make him move like it. There’s one scene where he’s mixing it up with someone, and it literally reminded me of the video of the two old Russian ladies fighting with their purses.

I just finished this. Not so good. It should have been 1.5 hours, if so, it would have been ok. Also, the cgi effects to make the actors look young were so-so, but deniro walked and held posture like an old geezer so that didn’t look good at all

Haven't seen it yet but heard the de-aging technology was really good. Amazing what they can do these days.
I finished it. It's ... odd.
The de-aging is very distracting when slapped on an old man's body. DiNero walks, eats, poses, and talks like an old man, very stiff with a hunch, tight shoulders and small steps - then they try to put a face of a 30 year younger man on his face. I hope this de-aging CGI stays in 2019. Whomever decided to recolor everyone's eyes needed to be slapped senseless - I know Sheeran had blue eyes, not sapphire platinum. Looked like a character from the Avengers, not a mob movie. What was up with executing Germans in the Italian theatre of war? Was that a thing? Should have just been left as, "I did my fighting, I did my killing, that was my business, now I'm used to it..." sorta thing. Al Pacino did a great Hoffa. Pesci did some great acting and dialogue, you forget you were watching Pesci. It's a more mature role for him. It's just Goodfellas that's stretched out with bits and blaps of Godfather II. For being 3.5 hours, it sure doesn't dive deep into any subject matter other than Hoffa half way through. Only thing they put in about Kennedy was some campaigning and assassination news on T.V.? Bay of pigs with some truck driving and background news reports? Marty broke the cardinal rule - show, don't tell. 5/10. Watch it in two parts. |
