I have a ten year old NFA trust. It has four members of my family listed as trustees. It worked fine when I bought NFA items ten years ago. I guess the law changed in 2016 and now all trustees listed on the trust need to do a background form, fingerprints, and photos when the trust purchases anything.

While I think everyone will pass the checks no problem it sure is a hassle to round up everyone for phots and fingerprints every time I want to buy something.

You can restate your trust here for $59.95 https://www.nationalguntrusts.com/products/nfa-gun-trust-restatement

The lawyer who originally made my trust will modify it for me for $150 which seems high.

I found this outfit online https://nfalawyers.com/new-41f-update-nfa-lawyers-clients/ who has a one page form that you sign and add to the end of your trust that makes you the sole responsible person when you buy something and then he suggests you just shred this page once you get the tax stamp and then all the trustees are good to go on using everything. Seems kind of sketch to me but maybe it is legal?

I am having a hard time deciding what is the best way to proceed with this. In the past ten years none of my trustees have ever used any nfa items without me present and I don't really see that changing except maybe my son who just turned 18 might go to the ranch without me or something.

You can have all your members send you a headshot (save for future need) and fill out their own FP cards. It's so easy it's not an excuse. Can also scan and save those prints for future use.

You can amend the trust, to remove everyone but yourself, and add them back once item is approved, as your link shows. Legal.

You're making it seem like a huge hassle (this isn't about what should or shouldn't be law) when it isn't.
Yes, I'm on multiple trusts, with many members, across several states, and we seem to not have an issue.
