These are USAF M1116 Up Armored HMMWVs (Kit B) specifically designed for SF, CE, and EOD BRAAT operations. Kit B turrets have overhead ballistic protection from SAF and 155mm shell fragments...

Even if you could buy one for $10-15,000 the maintenance is insane, if you can even find the parts. And if it breaks on the trail your buddies side by side isn’t towing it back. Not to mention at 10,000lbs it’s way over the weight capacity of most of the areas I use. I’ll just keep enjoying the ones I have at my disposal for the time being.

Airfields tend to attract paratroopers. It seems like it would fit it's role nicely as perimeter defense.

See those vehicles at the very top of this page? Those would have supported desantniki seizing airfields.

  Norway had Panzer IIIs and Stugs as airbase defense into the 1950s and buried tanks for longer. Finland had airbase defense Stugs too.

I took my son to "Tank Day" early this year.  That was cool.  This big bastard was impressive.  From my research it's not even recent and many decades old.  I can't remember what it was other than it was possibly British.  I'm sure someone here will know.

What is more impressive is they have ordinance that cuts right through these things.
