Ive been on these boards for a couple years now, pretty much always been a paying or gifted member.
My membership recently expired and figured id give the non-paying thing a whirl. If youve never paid, you dont know what features you are actually missing, having been a team member for over 15 years , its very strange not seeing my avatar and the subscription to threads. I have to bookmark anything I deem relevant to my interests, just something to get use to. The big thing is time on the boards, ive cut my time down drastically as non-payer. I can completely understand when i see longtime non-pay members say theyve been “lurkers” . I get it now. Easy to just read and move along then to post and have to bookmark or whatever. My point being that potentially losing Team members , be it banned ( of their own doing) or just not liking direction the boards have taken, will eventually take some very talented ppl away from here. There are true die-hards and plenty of resources still here, but can see how ppl not renewing and then evetually just leave all together. Flame on muta fuckers !!

I've made it a few months without the green arrows. It isn't fun, but it is tolerable. I think I've been a paid member for 12 years up until maybe November?

This was my first paid year since joining. Muh green arrows is nice, but not worth $24. If there was a "$10/year gets you green arrows, but no fancy avatar" option I'd renew. There are "Gold", "Silver" and "Bronze" tiers...call that $10 tier "Green" or "Lead".
Ironically, the one year I do decide to pay, they get ban hammer drunk. Several old accounts. Some I could see why maybe. I honestly don't follow every word written by every popular Arfer, but banning that Queevox guy? I don't think the guy ever even typed anything as abrasive as "WTF". I personally don't agree with censoring pricks. If he's a prick, just let him run his mouth. Most grown adults can figure out who's posts to skip. |

I've never paid a fee to access a website - isn't that what you have to do to get on a porn site? (not that some of the posted pics aren't like firearm porn
 )
I've been a member on here for 10 years, though not too active in all that time. My bank doesn't even charge me a fee to do any sort of banking activity, even depositing checks with their free app. This is a nice site and there are some great people on here and lots of good info, but if I had to pay for it I probably wouldn't. |

I think it depends on your level of activity and your interests. I've been a member here since 2003 but I've only had a team membership for a couple of those years. As can be seen by my post count I just don't post all that much and have never really missed not having a paid membership.
I found I spend more time on other firearm specific forums and our local Arizona gun forums. Plus, I have several other hobbies and spend some time on old car, hot rod, tool, 4x4 and various guitar forums as well. So I just don't have enough down time to spend a lot of it on any one specific forum. |

I paid for a little while, found I didn't use any of the extra features and didn't feel an avatar was worth the cost. I'm fine with looking at the ads in exchange for the "free" membership.
