There will be a lack of cash to cover the margin calls, because the smartest people in the room are heavily leveraged all over the place. They will have to start selling everything not nailed down to come up with the cash to cover. As everyone starts selling everything to cover, the computer algorithms will kick in and freak and start selling to take profit. Everyone, with any smarts, will head to cash to see what's left to buy on Monday and discounted prices. In short, you could see a 86/08 moment. The fundamental reason for what is going to happen on Friday, free FED money, hubris and tard, will still exist on Monday. So if what I think is going to happen, next week will be a wild ride with long plays becoming available at heavily discounted prices. Until free FED money stops or FED says the little guy can't play in the sand box, the markets will be severely overvalued and these types of events will continue from time to time as hubris and tard run into each other. Excellent summary. My wife is about to get online with her team. Her high dollar bosses are probably trying to figure out how to make money off of this while not losing their own asses. Good times. |

You can’t control animal spirts.
You can block the animals access to the food though. There is going to be lawsuits and the trading platform lawyers want to limit exposure when it goes boom. Don’t be surprised if your accounts will be frozen from taking your profits. This will cause another series of issues and a run. GME to the moon is going to cause a liquidity squeeze. Hide and watch. EPIC boys...fucking epic Wait until the paper precious medals market soft non existent under belly gets exposed. You think there is enough physical to cover the paper...your wrong. |

There's a psychological term for what's going on : "altruistic punishment".
Sociologists developed an experiment in which four participants are given $10 each and told that they can keep as much as they want for themselves or contribute as much of it as they like into a common pot that will then be doubled by the experimenter and split equally among the participants. Every dollar contributed by an individual benefits the entire group by doubling, and the individual gets 50 cents for every dollar contributed by someone else, but only gets 50 cents of one of his own contributed dollars back. A person who contributes little receives as much back from the pot as someone who contributes a lot, at lower cost, and thus has the most money, so there's a personal incentive to be greedy but it harms the group. In the next step the experimenter reveals what everyone contributed and each participant is given the option to take three dollars from any player and give it back to the experimenter at the cost of one dollar of their own. The only reason to do so, at personal cost, is to punish greed that harmed the group. Even though the group is temporary and there are no long term consequences for letting greed slide, most of the time when a participant is revealed to be greedy one or more of the other participants will spend some of their own money to bankrupt them, for no direct gain. That's "altruistic punishment", and is thought to be one of the foundation stones of human society. GameStop is essentially that experiment, but with 10 million participants. |
