I......I have a problem.

^ 601, 602, XM16E1, 604, M16A1, M16A1. All are original uppers on nodak lowers.

Im working on another A1 right now.

Plus I have a NM A2 build. Because owning eight 20' iron sight AR's makes sense right?

Thats the most expensive AR I own and its not even close.

Hopefully your Bownells rifles scratch the itch for ya. They look nice in person.

Not really retro, but I like A1 furniture because the handguards are more comfortable and the A1 stock doesn't have that poky buttplate on the A2.

Off topic but, does anyone know where to get the triangle carbine handguards? I bought this pair in the EE.

Picked up an A1 when Brownells was doing a sale a month or two back. They’re beyond cool. I guess it joins my A2 as another ‘vintage’ rifle, which sucks, since an A2 was my issue at boot camp. I guess I’m getting old

Its a US ARBO box for shipping M16A1s, found a piece of beveled glass on Amazon and cut a hole in the top and made a frame to hold the glass.  Added a 10.00 multi color 8' LED strip from home depot for lighting.  Its pretty cool...

I literally want to kick myself in the head for not buying the $325 surplus M16A1 uppers that were available not too long ago.

They may be gone forever now.    The Brownells stuff is very cool though.

I LOVE the retro stuff! This is the only one I own thou, Colt 6520, it's the gun I dreamed of owning when I was kid :)  I wish N1 stocks weren't so stupid expensive.

Actually, if we are talking about an XM16E1, the original ones had partial-fence lowers as well as 3-prong FH and even birdcage FHs. Eventually, some ended up with full-fence lowers before production stopped due to the M16A1 production going on at the time. Earlier XM16E1s also had chrome BCGs and transitioned to phosphate BCGs later in production.

The lower that Troll has is a modern A2 lower and an E type stock which would not be correct, but some guys are just happy with the retro look and not overly concerned about correctness and that is okay.

This is my clone of a transitional XM16E1. Most parts are original Colt except for the lower receiver.

Sadly deleted the plans but I google searched and found them here . I did not rip any boards if that helps and the butt stock is flush with that board and "wedged " in. The slip ring sits in a board that had a hole saw drilled in its center. We then cut it inhalf so you can slide on half out and "unlock" the slip ring. @Tazaroo
