I have to say, I'm safe because my grandfather made me safe starting when I was 8 years old, catching the outfeed (he didn't have no stinkin outfeed tables) from his tablesaw (wish I had a photo of it--it was so small and simple), and working with him on other tools.
When you're a little kid, and your grandpa reminds you constantly to stand to the side, stand to the side, stand to the side, stand to the side, not behind the workpiece, it gets ingrained.
There are a lot of things I'm not safe about. But the tablesaw I respect in a way that is like a second nature.
A good reason to bring your kids into your woodshop, I think.
I still say to uxb, "step to the side" when he's feeding, or catching, the piece going into or coming out of the tablesaw, and he ALWAYS says, "I KNOW I WILL" but he doesn't, and he won't. City boy. Grandpa didn't teach him.
Ain't gonna actually pay attention to wife.
