I have a couple nice watches but I don’t own an auto.
And I don’t own anything with a bracelet. I really like the simple looks of the Khaki but the seiko GMT is also a sexy bitch. This would be an everyday use watch for me. Opinions and other recommendations? Attached File Attached File |

I don't think you could go wrong with either.

I have the Seiko. It’s my everyday watch and it keeps good time for the price point. Im bias towards Seiko though.

My seiko crapped the bed after two years of not-quite daily wear. My Breitling, on the other hand, has never been serviced and still only loses 10 or 20 seconds a month, after 14 years.

I have both a 5 and a Kahki but I wear my Hamilton Seaview more than either of them.

I’m not fond of plastic parts in Seiko, their time keeping can be sketchy too. I like the thought of Seiko, until I get my hands on one and I’m like “meh.” Buy a Casio analog’ish, get a Casioak.
Hamilton makes a nice watch. |

My son stole my Seiko 5, same basics as this but no GMT. He's beaten the living shit out of it for 2 years now and it just keeps going. Literally, been in the ocean, he wears it in the bath, he falls out of trees, damn thing keeps running. Good value for sure.

Seiko GMT is my daily, that exact watch but swapped to a nato strap. Nothing fancy, but it was a spiff from work and I enjoy it.
The bezel is 2 tone, black for night and a dark grey/chrome for day. Doesn't come through well in photos. |

Oohhh...I like that Seiko.
That get's my vote. |

Have a Seiko Monster (the OG) and the Khaki King on a NATO band. Thoroughly enjoy both.
I'd bump up to looking at the Prospex line if you're looking at Seikos, though. |

I like my citizen pro master fujitsubo. Titanium dive watch with a nato band.

I have the exact Hamilton pictured above. A solid watch and very good time. It's a tank.

I have a Seiko 5 that I wear off and on for about 15yrs.

Look at the Seiko Titanium line.
Good looks and ultra light weigh. |

I like my Hamiltons. I’ve got a Below Zero, Pilot Bronze, and a Khaki. This is my next one. The Jazzmaster Open Heart.

It's not a proper GD watch thread until someone ignores OP's choices and reccomends/ posts a Rolex...

I looked at that same exact Seiko GMT a couple of weeks ago in a local store. I really really like it! I almost bought it, but currently I want the Apple Watch Ultra and I already own like 5 Seikos. I just really don’t another another Seiko automatic watch right now.

The Hamilton Khaki unless you are rough on your watches and want a throw away watch.
That Hamilton is a good addition to any collection. Brown leather strap goes well with the Khaki. |

I have a Hamilton field, and a different seiko movement.
It is my opinion, that the Hamilton movement is superior, and while I own several Japanese movements, the Swiss ones are better. I see it like German cars vs Japanese cars. German cars are superior. I don’t begrudge people who own Japanese cars. |

I’ve been wearing a khaki mechanical
For 6 years now every day. I’m on my third set of bands and one watch send back for freshening. But I’ve worn it in the ocean, farm work, you name it. I love mine! |

Game on!

The GMT is a great watch. I am a professional watchologist, and I recommend it!

The thing you have to understand about cheap automatic watches is that they still have to be serviced regularly to keep good time (maybe every 5-7 years). And just because they’re cheap, it doesn’t mean that the service is cheap (probably $250+). So you’ll have to decide in 5-7 years whether you want to spend as much or more than the watch it’s worth to service it or junk it and buy a new one. In the price range you’re talking, I’d stick with a quartz watch.

I’m have two of the new Seiko 5 GMTs. You can get them for under $250 on Facebook watch groups

I was looking at a Tag, but the whole premium price dealer thing and grey market / fake situation with 3rd parties gave me pause.
Now, that Hamilton Navy Scuba looks pretty damn fine, and it looks like they will send it right to ya. With the price difference, I could also get a Brew on the side. |

Don't buy a used or refurb Seiko 5 off ebay. They're all parts watches from India.

I'll take the Seiko watch with the Hamilton band. I hate those bands that look like the ones on the Seiko

I really like them, have been on the look out for a used, but in perfect condition, at a reasonable price. I like their GMT. Their prices are ridiculous considering the secondary market. The winner is to find a modded Seiko that looks like a Rolex GMT (but still has Seiko on it), from one of the reputable places that doesn't mark them up to some bs price. They shouldn't be over $300. I'm eyeing one from gigawattwatches, the vintage no date GMT mod. There are a few dude who do some really awesome mods, but they creep up into the very high hundreds. |
