What would you buy under $10k? The market has sunk a bit and I'm thinking about getting another watch. Here are my preferences:

Quoted: Rolex Yatchmaster with dark rhodium dial https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WGAnPPwQo-8/WozByLrz4HI/AAAAAAAALIo/SaZq3plBM2Aq1AtGKUU3NDNneKGuxFQNQCLcBGAs/s1600/PhotoGrid_1518804812954.jpg View Quote |

Need to know the purpose.
Evening black tie Work- Business formal Work- business casual Weekend warrior Legit sports use (salt water swimming) Also- do you like to view a beautiful movement or are your interests more aesthetic? How often will you wear the piece? |
|
In the daily work rotation. Not just a dress watch - good question.

I do like the look of older Rolex and Tudor models, but on the wrist they feel like an Invicta, especially the bracelet. For that money, I'd buy new.
I have always liked the Fifty Fathoms but never had a chance to try one on. |

Jaeger-LeCoutre Master Ultrathin Date. Use the leftover cash to buy a bracelet. |

If you can stomach 42mm I’d look at a Planet Ocean Liquidmetal.
|
|
MKII 39MM explorer I think would be my choice.
It’s not less than 40mm but the latest generation Seamaster is a damn nice watch. I have one with a black dial. Only complaints are it’s a tad heavy and sometimes the watch is too flashy looking for really casual attire. |
|
Doxa will have a variety of seizes and dial colors.
But again, most brands are going to take a hit. A used SBDX001 or SBDX017 if a fantastic watch at the price but is going to be a touch bigger and taller. marathon are tall for their size. |

Defy I have this one, and it is really comfortable. It may be my favorite casual/business casual watch I own. Espada |

Thanks. I don't have any blue dial watches and really would like to get one.

I bought a new Rolex GMTII as I was getting divorced at 27. When I could least afford it.
I financed it for 2 years. I have NEVER regretted it. It looks great with a dress suit, or with a bathing suit. Oh, and I paid $1800 new. Yeah, I have paid to have it cleaned 3-4 times and last year I did the whole refurbished thing. Everything suggested except the dial (they are ridiculously expensive). It cost me $1300. It is still worth more than I have ever put into it. I enjoy wearing it every. Single. Day. |

View Quote I've feared the buyer's remorse thing on a couple of expensive watches and it's never been close. I've regretted some purchases, but never a watch. |

I beginning to this this my like all my other posts will be irrelevant because I need to try these on before buying. This will be a personal grail watch so returns are not part of the equation.

Isn't that model 87mm? I really like it but the case size is huge.

I'm going to second the Zenith. How about the Zenith El Primero 03.2150.400/69.M2150?
El Primero 400 movement, 38mm diameter, 12.5 mm thickness, 36,600 VpH movement. I love the El Primero. And at retail, you would have money left over to buy some nice straps, as well. El Primero Chronomaster But I'm going to say something that's probably not been said yet. I would look at the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph (if you can find one) or Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph. Manufacture movements - and JLC makes movements for holy trinity watch houses. And they come with an 8 year warranty. JLC Chronograph on JLC site JLC Polaris Chronograph |

I like my two a lot. Omega Speedmaster "Sapphire Sandwich" and the current Rolex Submariner 116610LN. You might also want to consider the Omega Seamaster and Rolex Explorer. Attached File Attached File |
