Is this lens worth repairing?
I dropped the thing and now the zoom doesn't work.

Looks like maybe not, judging from ebay prices.

Not worth the trouble to repair. I got a quote to repair Nikon 55-200, and it was like half the cost of a new one.

I got a reply from a Nikon authorized repair shop.

"Nope, parts are no longer made, try another shop maybe"

Not worth the squeeze for a repair.  Check out KEH, B&H, or Kenmore Camera for a AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 ED, it's a lens that hits way above it's price point and should be ~$350 or so if not less used.

rcav8r: Try some of the non-Nikon lenses, they are usually less expensive, and probably just as good optically.

I had a quote to fix my Tokina 11-16 that was about the same.
