I built my own 2x72 sander with VFD. I use it for all sorts of things. Except knife making. Hoping to get the bug to start again.
This is the last knife made about 5 yrs ago. Steel is CPM D2. Crio treated between tempers by another knifemaker friend. We shot for 61 to 62 RC

Anyone else let life get in the way of a hobby?

Nice. Who made the sheath?

I made the sheath also. It's a little too form fitted. Have to insert the knife carefully to not slice the sheath!

That looks great!  Very clean.

I have a 2x72 that I bought for making knives.  It gets used daily for everything except making knives.

I've built 2 2x72 belt grinders know.  I only build about 2 knives a year.  I don't really enjoy it all that much.

The 2x72 is endlessly handy to have in the shop though.

Here's the one I built built. The buffer in the back is for putting a freakishly sharp edge on knives. The other grinder is for buffing. Also made the adjustable platen and rest.Almost never use the rest.

I love tools!

Anyone in the Houston area up on Tig machine setting. Plasma as well. I have both setup om 240V. I've done a little tig welding but this machine has so many settings. I do Mig fairly well, brazing and a little torch welding. Best way to learn tig?
Thank you!

I love the vertical /horizontal.  Have plans that you would be willing to share?

@squirrel_herder

The horizontal option is why I built the second one.   With that one, I actually bought a kit which came with plans, hardware and pre-cut flat pieces.

Look up HouseMade on YouTube.  Definitely worth the price.  He's worked out most of the bugs,  plus he lists sources for the motor and VFD options.
