Probably a dupe, but don’t care as it’s too cool of a photo to matter!

Caption on Instagram said it was taken in 1986.

Lieutenant Commander Nigel Williams water skis from Type 22 frigate HMS Brave

Gotta be a pretty long wait when you fall for the boat to circle around and pick you up.

They’ve always known how to have a good time. Legendary feat of derring-do.

One of the comments: "Definitely not US Navy, or Italian…. I know this because that's my father.  Cdr AB Trentham - Royal navy."

HMS sort of gives away RN. I guess which LtCdr that is must be a matter of dispute.

As a former water skier I was wondering how the hell does a huge Navy ship get up on plane fast enough to get a skier up, but now I see how they did it.

My dad and his pals in Vietnam in 1963 or early 1964 had somebody from home send them some water skis.
He tried to water ski behind their Huey, it lasted all of seconds and one of the skis broke and my dad about died.
Would love to have him here to tell me the story. RIP dad.

Thanks for sharing OP

I want to know how they got it approved past their safety officer, who picked up the ski, where his PT belt was, why so many were out of uniform etc. This male-dominated culture cannot stand. They should be delivering meals to refugees, not having fun.
