There's a 24/7 Johnny Carson channel on PlutoTV. I watch it occasionally when I can't sleep.
A few days after Bob Saget died, they played a 1980s episode in which Johnny interviewed Bob. |

As one who was born in the 70’s I was privileged to stay up late some nights and be able to watch him. I agree, there has been no one else better. The man was a talent for sure. I also say young David Letterman was a distant 2nd…..

I grew up with Carson, back when The Tonight Show was 90 minutes.

Yooooooouuuuuuu are correct sir. And Doc Severinsen was the greatest trumpet player of all time. And Ed McMahon never visited my house with a giant check from AFP, not Publishers Clearinghouse, although I would have taken either.

A long time ago I hosted a party and had several old recordings of Tonight Show highlights. Someone put one in and almost immediately everyone was glued to the TV and stayed for hours. It was hilarious. Johnny was the best.

Antenna TV, Mon-Fri 10PM/E.
Carson is magnificent, as was Craig Ferguson. Late night TV has not been the same since both ended their shows. I'd always hoped that Ferguson would have taken his show to a premium cable channel, like HBO. |
|
He was also the last late night show host. All since have been political hacks!

Mark Twain - Will Rogers - Johnny Carson
Carson may be an impossible act to follow. |

Wow so many arfcom boomers here. I feel. Sick. Jay Leno the best!

JOHNNY CARSON SKIT WITH CAROL WAYNE |

I'm watching some old stuff from the late 70's. 90% of the political jokes could be written today about Biden and the current situation.
And yes, he's the best, by far. |

I used to bag Ed McMahons groceries at Bots supermarket every week when I was 12. I was a dick. Never met Johnny but the only other name people raved about back then was Jack Parr?
|
|
OP: I cannot disagree in the least.
There are a couple of others that I enjoyed, many that I despise, but Carson was and is the GOAT. |

Johnny Carson as Reagan, a "Who's On First" spoof Best Carson Skit of all. |

I watched him as a kid many years into my adulthood.
I was in Army Aviation back in the 90’s. We were setting up a new Apache unit in NC. It made the news because of the woodpecker around Ft Bragg. The treehuggers were upset because of the woodpeckers. Johnny caught wind of it and said something on the lines of “They’re worried about helicopter noise affecting a bird that beats his head against trees?” |
|
Carson was the Absolute best.
Leno was just OK....sometimes. The rest and current sucked ass. |

The Tonight Show was the pinnacle of entertainment for years. Carson was the best at his craft.
Always used to enjoy The Tonight Show when a young David Letterman was the guest host. IIRC, Carson thought Letterman should have been "heir" to The Tonight Show. |
