 KINSHASA, Congo—The Italian ambassador to Congo and an Italian carabineri police officer were killed Monday during an attack on a U.N. convoy in an area that is home to myriad rebel groups, the Foreign Ministry and local people said. Another article I read about this said it was a kidnapping attempt. The road had been "cleared" for travel without armed Security escorts, and at 10:15am their vehicle convoy was ambushed and stopped. They killed one driver and then led the convoy into the jungle in order to kidnap the ambassador and another italian embassy worker who was there. The Congolese army responded and attacked the kidnappers, who shot the Italians once they saw they weren't going to succeed. He died in the hospital.

Susceptible to what is known as a limnic eruption, which is a sudden eruption of dissolved carbon dioxide in the water. Also methane in Lake Kivu. Never heard of any of this before. Another awesome feature of that area is/was Gustave the Croc who was killing people like it was it's job from Lake Tanganyika up the Ruzizi to Lake Kivu.
Lots of the locals, who don't really scare easily were pretty fucking scared of Gustave. |

Those specific kids look Moroccan, like the mom, not Italian, like him, even though they are only 1/2 Moroccan. I am a born Oklahoman. If you met my kids you would have no idea they had a Moroccan mother. My wife is obviously Moroccan. My genes overwhelmed hers with all three of our kids.
