For me its 300 blk in plastic mags only, aluminum for 5.56.
I have 2 ars in 300, one has my thermal living on it, the other is a 8.3 inch. I typically only bring one caliber to the range at a time, but I actually just realized that when reading this thread. |

Where does one get the rubber band labels?

I don’t think having unique mags hurts, but having the wrong round in a can full of loose rounds definitely hurts.

I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

Send links @d16man @bigshooter414 @50cal Savior Equipment Covert Bag. I added the bandoliers (from Amazon, as were the bands). Extremely well made. I now have 4 Savior cases. |

I wonder when folks will start using the operational names used during GWOT

Due to the physical characteristics of the 5.56 and .300BLK rounds and the distinct possibility of an accident with destruction of the 5.56 rifle and possible personal injury, I think you'd have to be nuts to have both calibers at the same time.

View Quote I can see this being a distinct possibility for me. For non-precision rounds like 9mm, 300 Blackout subs, 7.62x39, and a few others, I dump bulk rounds into .30 caliber ammo cans so I don’t have to monkey with 20 or 50 round boxes while loading and shooting. However, I could see inadvertently dumping a handful of cartridges in the wrong can by accident. Thanks for mentioning this, DVCER. |

Wrong ammo in a can usually happens when you take someone else shooting with you, and they don’t know the difference.
Happened all the damned time when running handgun classes, where the agency or academy supplies ammo and has people clear out mags and weapons at the end of the day, then the first ammo loaded the next day came out of those loose ammo cans. Of course a 9mm fired in a .40 won’t blow up your gun, and a .40 just clogs up a 9mm action real well. .300 BLK just needs some extra safety measures in place. Personally I just do subsonic anyhow, and that won’t be causing the issue. Parts commonality is worth the headache. Life has always been difficult when people make mistakes, or are just plain stupid. You want 100% safe? Stay away from firearms… |

DSG used to sell blaze orange D&H mags. Those became my .300blk mags. I since added some .300 pmags, but I wrap the bottoms with blaze orange duct tape to keep consistent. Then my .300 uppers get a blaze orange index clip somewhere along the rail for ID. I see blaze orange and I know to be careful with what I'm doing.

I don't let folks shoot my guns without me there, but eventually my stuff will be transferred to one of my kids. Hopefully that is not in an emergency type situation but instead a chance that I can sit down and show. But just in case that is where the bands come in handy IMO. |

Grey Amend2 20 round mags with rubber bands on them are the only ones I use for 300BLK. I got 20s because I may get a Ruger American in that caliber some day.
