Quoted: I've read that it's good, but not several hundred (thousand?) dollar good. There are a ton of amazing sub-$100 bottles out there. I'd like to try the high end Van Winkles, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay that much money for a bottle of liquor. View Quote I top out at about $100 before the wallet starts to pucker. The sad fact is, the booze can get really good once you spend some money. It took me a while to spring for a bottle of Lagavulin 16, but it's worth it if you like that sort of thing. |

It’s not bad considering what’s on the market but it is just a mediocre bourbon compared to its older Stitzel-Weller counterpart. Try to enjoy it anyways.

10 year? Meh...not worth it imo.
I like the older whiskeys esp. Pappy. |

Honestly? It's OK.
George T Stagg, Stagg Jr are much, much better in my opinion although not easy to find. More complex, much fuller flavored. I've got a bottle of Old Rip and Lot B 12yr. I keep them for guests who've never had anything from the "pappy" line. The 20yr is an excellent bourbon IMO. Don't know how they let it age that long and not taste like an oak tree, but they know how to do it. |

I have never tried Pappy myself. I can't even find a bottle of Blanton's....I'm a poor.... I just wanted to see what it felt like to be a rich Arfcommer for a little bit. |

The 10 year is good whiskey, but honestly I can't tell the difference between it and Weller Antique, which costs half as much and is more available.

I would buy it, but don't open it. Try to find Antique 107, open that, pour into a clean decanter or pitcher, then pour it back into the bottle after a couple of hours to let it "breathe". Try the 107, depending on the batch, they taste very similar. Sell the ORVW to someone for a profit. If you were local, I'd let you try some, I've got an open bottle and one backup. (Idaho is a lottery state, I was drawn in 2014 and 2019.)

So, if one happened to check their collection, and realize that in fact they had some "valuable" bottle of Pappy's, how/where would one go about selling them for a good profit?
Asking for a friend.... |

If you must drink it, mix with ginger ale. Ginger ale fixes any and all bad whiskey.
Or, it does make a good drain cleaner. |

Quoted: You might want to splash a wee bit of water in the glass with that. Years ago there was an online liquor store, in Missouri IIRC. I went online and bought a few bottles of various labels we can't get here in Alabama (ABC stores ). Anyway, some of them got put back in a cabinet. Time passed, leaves fell, water went under the bridge and I disremembered them. So my son in law comes up for a visit and I started digging around and came up with a bottle of van Winkle 15y/o. He was agog. He's a big seeker of high dollar bourbons. He couldn't believe a fan of Old Forester could come up with a bottle of van Winkle. View Quote Unfortunately I've never had any van Winkle but, Old Forester 1897 bottled in bond is good stuff! |

Got a bottle of Lot B I can't bring myself to open considering the secondary value. A few years ago it was $400, now I'm seeing $6-800. That buys a lot of good Bourbon. Problem is I'm out of space. |
