I basically go through the motions every day with my job.  Im really good at it...educated,  experience, certifications up the wazoo...but I have zero passion for what I do.

When people talk to me about career development and career plans...all I can muster is a blank stare.  I dont hate what I do...I just have zero passion.

Anyone else in that boat?  Anyone fix it?

Same. Have only ever had one job that I felt that way. But that wore off after a couple years. Basically it’s down to I need money and they need shit done.

I told the owner of the company I work at that I'm quitting as soon as my house sells. 12 years and I can't take it anymore. Don't know what is next for me.

Yup.

Quitting in a few weeks to go back to school

I generally enjoy my job but it's not the sort of job that passions really fits into, because I work with felons and crooks all day.

I mean, I enjoy arresting them and I think what I do benefits decent people, but "passion" seems a bit strong.

Yeah, I only do a decent job so I don't have to hear any bullshit. Well, that and I don't like fucking over decent people (customers, not all of em) so I plug along and do the best I can.

Am I enthusiastic about the job? Not even a little.

Been a plumber for 4 years. Don’t love it, don’t hate it. I enjoy being meticulous with it and making my work look good. That gives me some level of satisfaction.

Yep, I mirror your feelings OP. Pay is really good, and I used to enjoy it, but the burn out came about a year ago. I dream of the day I find a career path that I'm passionate about, yet still earn a decent living (if it happens at all).

I enjoy my paychecks.

12 hour rotating shifts will probably be my death.

I will mostt likely finish up 2018 with 650 to 700 hours of O.T.

Did I mention I enjoy the paychecks?

This. It's a job. I got the bills to pay and toys to fund. Is it terrible,  no, and I really think God for it but passionate - nope.

... absolutely loved my 35 year career with Big Blue - there's been times I've questioned an early retirement. But in the end, if you can make the same coin as you did as a senior level 5 engineer staying home - You stay home and cash that check

I used to be. Now I'm going to school for something else, hopefully that I can do on my own,  rather than as someone else's employee.

I used to repair and maintain commercial airliners. Not a good job to just "go through the motions."

ETA for story time: I once showed up for work with shampoo still in my hair, because I was so checked out from everything. I didn't notice for a while.

Yup. I do not care one bit really. I get in, I get it done, I make a good impression, but I just don't care.

It's a job, not a career. I like the place, people, and pay, it helps me to get rid of debt. I'll be going to school this year to start a career as soon as I'm able.

I couldn't care less. I'm in corrections, started in 2001 when I was in my 20's, and I went in every day thinking that I was going to run a tight ship just to show that I could, and now I don't give a flying fuck about anything as long as it doesn't affect my next check, my lunch, my next bowel movement or the arrival of the guy or girl who'll be relieving me. True story.

Not much anymore. I'm a rockstar at what I do but my son has taken over my life priority. I used to work 12-15 hours a day but now I find myself trying to get home asap to be with my 1 yr old.

If hate qualifies as passion then I've got loads of it. I frankly hate what I do but I'm thankful I have a job that provides well for my family.

I wish I had a job that mattered beyond paying the bills or even worked with great people, but I don't.

I’m a route delivery driver.  We start unloading at the highest number stop and work our way down.  It’s routed as Stop 98 in Cuero TX, 95 is in El Campo TX  80 miles away, then back to Cuero TX for 90.

El Campo was inserted way off of where it should have been.  The route should go:  Cuero, Edna, Ganado, and then El Campo with that location being the seventh stop off.  I’m going to have to move two thousand pounds of products aside and work around it because I’m damn sure not going to drive an extra 240 miles for one stop that’s out of sequence.

A persons soul needs to look back at the end of the day and see something real accomplished.  Very little
satisfaction in pushing paper or tapping keys.

I work for the gov. I watch guys steal and cheat the taxpayers out of money everyday. When I make noise about it, I get shut down and told that I have a family to feed and to not bring it up. Had a guy tell me that veteran preference is bullshit and how we should not be rewarded for not finding a real job in life, how we all are a joke.

Gov employees are some real shit shows, I think it's time to turn off the tap and go all private. Fuck these guys with a cactus.

No more passion.

I used to, not anymore.

There was a time I loved the job, everything about, was excited to go to work...lousy managers change that.

These days all I hear is what I am doing wrong, never what I am doing right.

Bad managers wear you down...

I love my job.  I hate the way the management runs the place,  Thankfully I got out of the management position,  My voice fell on deaf ears anyway.

My co-workers are great people.  Its like a small family in the shop.  The sales dept?  We wont go there...

Customers?  Well,  Its like most any other retail business,  treat your customers well and they will come back and in a lot of cases send others.  And some you cant please.
