Get both?
I love different imported beer, but there's a lot of good craft beer as well. Love Highland Gaelic Ale and Tiger beer. |

Have to agree wholeheartedly with OP here.
A Czech Pilsner from Europe tastes like it should. A "Czech Style Pilsner" from a craft brewery has hints of the original stuff, but is always tweaked to include some bullshit "hoppiness" and/or some bullshit sweetness or "floral/citrus notes." In their quest to be hip and unique, the craft breweries end up bastardizing the original tastes and feels of what the beer should be, and usually tastes vastly different than what I was expecting. This goes for all Craft Brewed versions of the following: German Pilnsers Czech Pilsners Marzens/Festbiers Dunkels Kolsch etc etc etc |

Meh there's plenty of craft breweries putting out crispy bois on the same level as the European big boys.
Live Oak in TX does European styles like pilsners and hefes better than anyone else in the country. |
|
from what I understand.. Europe and other parts of the world cant get enough of US craft brews.

I agree with OP. Pilsner Urquell is my favorite beer. However, Victory brewing puts out a pilsner that is also, of very high quality. Worth czeching out.

US craft beer is the best beer in the world.
some places go a little crazy.. but for the most part the best quality is in the US. |

View Quote wrong.gif While there's plenty of really good stuff here, the best I've ever had was at some brewpubs in Austria. Now, if we're only talking about beer available for packaged retail sale (as opposed to on-premises consumption), then I might agree with you. |

There are plenty of really good import beers, and plenty of really good craft beers. There are too many wonderful beers for me to decide that one is better than the other. Good beer is truly a joy to a man...
Beer and/or bacon to men is like chocolate and/or flowers for a woman. |
|
Budvar/Budwahr Urquell
Original Budweiser The problem = beer is better fresh and it's hard to be sure how old it is imported and sitting on shelf in store. |

Fresh brew and cider across the pond is fantastic. Imported? Meh.... I only like a couple. Even Guinness is excellent when you are drinking it while sitting in a pub in Edinburgh.... |

I'm a German/Belgian beer drinker mostly and there are a some US based micro breweries that rival any of the beer shipped from Europe.

Pilsner urquell is good but you're wrong and you should feel bad.

After going through all the stages of craft beer, I'm back where I started: Pilsners
Pilsner Urquell is great second to my favorite (that's easily available) Grolsch. Grolsch is a little more bitter than PU. I have both in the fridge right now and the Grolsch 12 pack will be gone first. The only craft breweries I frequent now are German ones where I can get a real Pilsner or Kolsch or something that tasted decent. I'm done with all the hipster shit. Just loving German/Czech/Dutch stuff. |

I do occasionally imbibe in some doppelbocks like Paulaner Salvator or Spaten Optimator. |

Why do the beer noobs always say dumb stuff like "craft beer = hipster IPA"?
While I do agree that IPAs are gross there are hundreds of craft brewed wheat beers, stouts, lagers, saisons...etc. |

I've always questioned your intelligence, it's interesting to finally have an answer.

3PNI. Great beer is great beer. I am a traditionalist at heart- don’t care for all this chocolate/coffee/ weird beer, but I also enjoy the Belgian styles that differ a lot from the Budmiller offerings.

German lagers, even the low-grade ones, shit on anything else produced.

I like a good craft beer every now and then, but I'm mostly a simple man who truly prefers his Bud Light.

I generally agree. There are exceptions.
Czech pils are great. Munich lagers are up there as well. |
