I need and want to get the idea of taking my own life out my thought process! I don't even want it to be an option, but it's always in the back of my mind. I know that is the depression, but I am unable to shake it.

Dude.  The best way is keeping yourself busy.

Talking with your buddies.  You'd be surprised later on that your such thought was not a good idea.
Take up with these guys.  They are good and level headed people.

If I weren't 51 years old, I'd join the military and want to fight the Taliban, at least if I died doing that, my death would have some meaning!

I have decided that (IF) I do leave this world, I'll want to preserve my organs for Life Gift, to give to others so that more than one person will benefit.

I mean heck, I've never drank, smoked or done illegal drugs. So, my heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, corneas, kidneys and skin should be good to go for transplant (finding suitable recipients of course).

Have you seen someone for help?
The sun is gorgeous, the stars lights in the dark.
Do you have a pet? For pets know, and have saved many. They traded the ability to speak for the ability to know. I know, for this dog saved me from midnight walks in the woods with a pistol.

We got this, you and I and us.
I know you survive the good times awaiting the good times.
I know you sit in the dark when you should be sleeping.
I know you put on a facade for loved ones....."I'm OK."
I did too.
Just as the diabetic can't will his pancreas to work, or the COPD patient can't will himself to breath...so go you.
Go talk to someone, for the crest of the hill will never be traversed if you don't make the first step.
Listen to some uplifting music....stay busy. Volunteer at a pet shelter.
I beat it as many here have.
I'll add you to the list.

I am and have seen a Psych. for my depression. I've spoken with a therapist, but when my Insurance stopped, so did her therapy & empathy.

I do have a dog, he's a rescue Pup. I named him "Knuckles", short for Knucklehead. He's a sweet boy.

You're at a point where you feel worthless. That's understandable considering what you're going through. Many people have felt, and feel, that way. Many have considered suicide, and some have followed through.

You wrote it you were able to do something meaningful and died in the process that your death would have meaning. What kind of meaning would death by suicide have?

You have a relationship with God. What would He think?

You now have a relationship with posters in this thread. I can't speak for anyone else, but I think your death by suicide would be an avoidable tragedy.

You are currently under a huge amount of stress, but otherwise healthy. There is no amount of work so great in climbing out of this hole that would justify throwing it all away.

There is no amount of work so great that would justify throwing it all away.

Have you been to an employment agency? Have you filed for unemployment? have you been to the social security office?

Have you received help with your resume'? You need an unbiased eye to look at it and offer advice. I know retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe's often just need warm bodies, especially for the holidays. Do even a halfway decent job and it could turn into something long term.

Will IM you.
You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am.

I'm not in your shoes. But my dog is my only real family these days. I don't understand  what you are going through but I do know that stepping out is not the answer you seek.

You want to be an organ doaner?  Then live your life till the natural end.   At that point, you may help others. Right now you need to help yourself. Be selfish, be greedy. Do it, put yourself first. All others can come later. People need you and care about your wellbeing. Just re-read the last couple of pages of this thread if you don't believe me.

I am genuinely glad to see you here and talking to people. It may seem impossible now, but the way you’re feeling will change! If you are looking for some support and funds are a problem I can be of assistance guiding you to some resources in your area.

You certainly have a very strong spirit, and it is normal for anyone to question why after going through something as horrible as you have. You are a  decent person who is going through a terrible time. I can't be exactly sure why. But by keeping going one thing is for certain you are fighting for yourself. I can guarantee you it will get better. Maybe not all at once, maybe with a set back here and there. But it will over time become less painful and life will get better!

We are here, anytime. Just reach out as you have been.!

There are threads in GD often, about suicides. And the results.

I don't think I've seen one, where the survivors aren't suffering some sort of guilt. "How could I have helped?" "Why didn't I see this coming?" and more.
Everyone second guessing how they could have prevented that outcome.

I agree with the person that said something like "It doesn't stop the pain. It just sprays it all over the responders, family and friends."

We don't exist alone. We are all in a complex web of interactions, from close friends and family to cow-orkers, to casual acquaintances. We influence and are influenced by others, every single day.

How much joy do we add to others? Or do they add to us? Yes, there are toxic people. Avoid them. Cultivate the happy, the energetic, the caring. Make a list. Seek them out. Be one of them.

You simply don't know how much effect you have on others. (And if someone's been in nursing for 20+ years, I suspect there a goodly number of patients who's life is happier, healthier and longer because of those effects.) How would THEY feel?

Things to think about, when the clouds are gathered.
And occasionally, the clouds part. Watch for the sunshine.

What is going on with the RN license?  The medical boards are generally forgiving, at least in my state.  If you explain to them your side, I'm not sure you would lose anything.  Definitely worth a try before you give up.

Have you thought about CBT therapy?  I know therapy can be expensive, but academic centers will usually have a "sliding scale" payment plan - if you make good, they charge good - if you don't, they adjust accordingly.  CBT is excellent for depression.  When depressed, we have really bad automatic negative thoughts - alot of these will dwell on the worst thing that can happen - this is what you are doing.  While others see that things can get better, the depressed mind has a very hard time seeing that, and often can't without help.  CBT works to change that way of thinking.

Meds can help also - they don't fix problems, but they can help symptoms - many have been helped a lot.  Again, community hospitals with psychiatry offices will often take sliding scale payments - most of the time, this is not well known, but can be arranged by talking to the financial person at the hospital or office.

Also, keep communicating.  Let us know what is going on and how you feel, we are listening.

Despite the fact I do not have a conviction but deferred adjudication only, the Texas BON is still attempting to have my License revoked. I couldn't afford another lawyer to fight this one for me, but I have turned in all relevant information stating my case to the BON, & my case is presently awaiting a Judge to make a "judgement' on it.

I am presently on 2 different antidepressants, but with no job (no Insurance) the out of pocket expense is about $450/mo & that's for Generic using a Good Rx card.
Thank you...

I am having a really hard time guys.  My wife and partner of 16 years, the love of my life just up and separated from me.  One day we were fine and the next day she tells me she no longer loves me and it's over.

I am doing my best to detach because trying to save my marriage is just pushing her further away.  I am literally in a limbo of hell, all by myself, waiting for her to decide if she wants to divorce or reconcile.  I am deeply hurt and absolutely heart broken.

I may need to talk to someone very soon.  I am having a hard time dealing with this rush of sadness.   I have never been this sad in my life.

I have a counselor, but I can't shake this feeling at all.  I feel like I'm drowning.  I am ok when I am busy at work but when the day ends the emptiness rushes back in with full force.  This has literally brought me to my knees.  I cant believe this is happening.

I'm sorry for what you're going through, I had the same thing happen nine years ago.  I've since upgraded to a saner model ten years younger than she is, but that first few days were Hell, and it was still painful for a bit longer.  In many ways, it's the same grieving process as a death in the close family, you'll go through the same stages of grief, as you mourn for the life you had together and the dreams you had of the future.  I'm going out for the evening, but I'll PM you my number if you need to talk.

Hachiko, My good friend has been put through a very similar wringer by a vile, evil, vindictive bitch who used the weaponized system against him.

It's been several years and I'd hate to think how much money but he's come out the back side, now.

It was touch and go for a long while. He had a bunch of friends trying to help him any way we could.

He's happy now. Has much perspective on life. I'm absolutely positive he didn't think it would have been possible while he was going through it.

We had lunch not too long ago and were going back over some of the shit and the outcomes of various court dealings etc.

Out of the blue he stopped and looked me in the eye and said, "Man, I'm glad I'm still here".

I knew exactly what he was talking about and just said, "Me too".

I  just got divorced (at least waiting for the court to get the palers back) from a wife who fell out of love with me. What hurt me the most is our son is only 8 and he has to witness all of the bullshit involved. I love him dearly and he is what has kept me concentrating on the good tbings in life.

I feel for all of you going through the bullshit life throws at you, be it loss in the form of ugly divorces, family tragedies, or whatever things that cause folks to lose the drive to go on. But i am glad that this forum exists and i find friends in all of you and don't know what i would do without Arfcom. Thank you all.

Thanks. He knows he is not. He started efforts to reform family law and the court system in Ohio. An effort so others don't go through what he did.

In the end there's just too much money trying to keep it the same.

He was also on meds. Dealing with his adult son's mental issues was just one more punch in the gut in a long line.

He came to the conclusion that the best thing he can do is put it behind him, forget about what he cannot or could not change, and go forward not letting her have one more minute in his head. He has.

My point, for what it's worth to you, was that as bad as it is or may seem I've seen a man make it through some of the worst shit that life can throw and make it out the back side in better shape.

Takes grit and determination. Find the right motivation for you. Even if it's just to piss her off.

I hope this helps at least in some little way. Don't let the bastages win.

It's been 9+ years since my divorce was finalized. Just realized today that my anniversary date didn't even register in my mind a few weeks ago. Iguess I'm finally free?  Life changing events take a while to understand  but, with time they just become another bump in the road.

You will get through this with a great deal of work, but you are up to the task. There is a real possibility your life will be better than it ever has. One day at a time.

I used to be that way. Had suicidal thoughts at least once a day. Nothing serious but it had been there for years. Prozac is literally the only thing that made them go away. Keeping busy with hobbies didn’t even help. After dealing with them for over a decade they were just normal and I learned to ignore them. Can’t say I haven’t seen some dark days though.

I hope therapy is an option for you, bud. Better living through modern science (drugs) is a thing and has helped me tremendously

Thanks for starting this thread.  My oldest son got a medical discharge from USMC in June, this year.  90 % I think.  Just broke up,with his girlfriend this past week.  He was planning on going hunting this past Saturday and Sunday.  Cancelled his trip, with me and my brother.  Came over yesterday and told me he was having a real hard time.  Couldn’t sleep.  Horrible nightmares.  Told me he thought of it.  Said he felt like he couldn’t talk to anyone.  Told, him he could call me any fucking time, night or day.  Told him I needed him to take the reigns of the farm when I was gone.  It was his.  I have to work today, but I took off Wednesday and Thursday.  Told him I needed his expertise to help sight in my rifle-he was a mortarman in the infantry.  Went in when he was 28yoa.  Body took a beating.  I didn’t ask why they broke up.  He’d been dating this girl before he went to boot camp.  BIG girl.  He’s an athletic guy so I was surprised with this girl.  But damn,  I could tell they loved each other.  She went fishing, camping, and hunting with him.  Even shot a deer! I was stunned at this revelation to say the least.  I’m gonna have to read all this posts for guidance.  Thanks for reading.  No family history of depression.

Damn but that would stop me cold in my tracks. Don't think I could let my boy out of my sight until I knew he was ok.

Sounds like you're doing the same. Good luck.

Left the job at 1030 am.  Couldn’t get a hdrovac in, so cancelled tomorrow and I took off Thursday as well.  I’m letting him use my Daniel defense rife to hunt with.  Told him to come over tomorrow am we could  go check the zero.  That might take all day.  Then, of course, he would have to stay for dinner.  Then I will mention that I need to check my rifle.  And that I need his help.  I told him that we can spend the whole weekend at the farm.  Might have to go fishing as well.  I’ll stay as involved as he’ll let me.  Thanks.....

You are not alone Brother.  Come here as often as you need to yell, vent or just ask advice.  Let us know that you are still in the fight.  Let us know that hopefully she confronted you with whatever  it is (your BS or hers) and you are working things out.

I'm scared of being in your situation.  My wife seems to be shutting down.   No fights, no discussions, no emotion.  I have thought everything was great because it has been so quite and laid back.  Then I heard someone say that when your wife fights with you is not when you should worry, it is when she stops.  We used to fight like cats and dogs.  I can't tell you the last fight we had.  Several years ago she tried to get me to talk, I mean really talk.  She begged for emotion and feelings from my heart.  How I felt about her then and if I really loved her and I did the least amount of talking possible.  She's never tried again.

I'll be thinking about you and will check back here to see how things are going.
