Back in August I wrecked my KX250 and ended up with a bunch of shiny new parts. I had a completely shattered cuboid and a Lis Franc seperation.

The longest screw was the only one put in on the inside of my foot. All the others were from the top and outside.

I started noticing earlier in the week that the incision site was sore. Today I can barely wear shoes. I called the orthopedic office on friday morning but never got a call back. I went to the doc today and they wouldnt even look at it and said call ortho back on monday.

Is this going to pop through?

Update:

Currently sitting in the ortho clinic, doc is gonna cut this thing out. Local anesthetic and an electric driver is what I am told.

Final update:

Fucking thing is out! One little cut and the doc unscrewed it with his fingers and a bit. Two whole stitches later and I was out the door.

When I got a plate and 9 screws in my wrist, one of the screws looked like it's sticking out of the bone on the x-ray. I asked the doc and he said, "yeah, but there's meat covering it."

Why wasn't the screw replaced? I was under the impression when metal plates, screws, and rods are involved there's so much damage the underlying bone can't support your body weight without them, even after you heal. (Hence why they never do a second surgery to remove them, even though your life sucks because you now set off airport metal detectors and can't get MRI's anymore.)

Once the bone heals the screws are no longer necessary.  They leave them in because it requires another surgery to take them out.  They only get removed if they're causing problems or in the way of another surgery.  I've had 11 screws in my ankle, 3 of them are still there.

My boss had a row of screws in his femur.
Over the years the bone grew enough (I guess) to pop the head of a couple, you could see them move under the skin when he flexed his leg.
Dr. asked if it bothered him, he said no.
Dr. said fine, call me when it does.

I had 2 pins in my foot with the heads sticking outside, when it was time for them to come out Dr. grabbed the heads with the same Craftsmen pliers I had and twisted and pulled them out.

Sadly, avatar is appropriate in this case. Been there too, OP, just didn't get any new hardware to go along with it. Bet that was a relief!
