I used to hate beer with a passion...but then I had a ludwig weiss bier...first wheat beer ever...Hey this aint' that bad!
Then I tried a blue moon....damn! that's tasty....then I tried a haufbrau wheat beer and a Cane Brake Abita wheat beer...damn...I really like wheat beers. Then I had a Hoegaarden Wheat Beer and HOE MY GAWD....that shit is truly the nectar of the gods...none of that fuckin nasty ass after taste almost all beers have. It was freaking phenomenal and cheap too...like $9.99 for a 6 pack. So....is there any other beer that is that ridiculously smooth I should try? |

Try sours. They're (usually) easy to drink. Check the ABV because there's definitely stronger ones out there.

Only thing about drinking unfiltered wheat beers is too many gives me the trots.

Coors light iwas my main beer . Tried some Trappist beer and it is excellent . IMO I. Actually the Chimay ales are my favorites at the moment

Hefeweizen beer is what you seek. German and Belgium beer is where it's at!

OP.....
There are a few good domestic wheat beers being mass produced. Windmere Hefe https://www.widmerbrothers.com/ Leinekugals Sunset Wheat and Honey Weisse are good https://www.leinie.com/beers . |

Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts. These are NOT Guinness. That shit's barely palatable.
It's an expensive passion, but so worth it!!! Attached File |

Wait for Winn-Dixie to put Busch beer on sale for $3.99 per 24 count case.

Quoted: This Also, Kilkenny is excellent View Quote You're one of the first people I've ever seen mention Kilkenny. Probably my favorite beer of all time and it's HARD to find... I've only had it at Tilted Kilt and a tiny pub in San Clemente. Most wheat beers taste sour and gross to me though. |

Hoegaarden is my favorite as well, Kirin Ichiban which is a malt beer and Kawaba Snow Weizen a wheat beer are also very good.

New Belgium Trippel is my “I think you can get it most anywhere” great beer
What supermarkets do you have? Kroger around here has a great selection |

This is my wife's favorite. Local German place has it on tap. Excellent beer. Her pervious favorite was Hogarten. Now it's second. |

Paulaner, Weihenstephan (you can find this on draft at a lot of chain restaurants in my experience, and it is awesome on draft), Hacker Pschorr, Franziskaner, Tucher, etc., all good. That Boulevard wheat @Thoughtcrime posted is damn good beer too, those Boulevard Brewing guys make good beer all around. If you liked Hoegaarden, then you'll probably like Allagash White. Being in Louisiana you might be able to find this one at a well stocked liquor store, but try Scattered Sun by Southbound Brewing. They're a Savannah, Georgia brewery making good beer. |

Quoted: yeah, not bad....but xpensive .....'bout 15.99 'round these parts for FOUR... View Quote The point I hope the OP takes from the replies in this thread is that there is virtually an unlimited number of beers now available in the U.S. and many of them are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, most American's view of beer is limited to the small number of domestic and import beers that have been available for decades. The craft beer movement has completely changed that. In August of 2023, I decided to start really seeking out new beers to try and since then, I've logged 102 unique beers. It's become a very enjoyable hobby. |

I was in Hoegaarden, Belgium in the summer of 1999 and went into a bar near where the beer is brewed. It’s a beautiful little town kind of close to Liège. The beer was basically a quarter for half a liter. And there were idiots paying roughly the equivalent of $5 for a bottle of Budweiser. I love Belgium but I’ll never forget or forgive them for that.

The thing that I like about Hoegaarden is that there is no nasty bite at the end like every other been. Like a super nasty bitterness. |
