Attached File I haven’t rode in 15 yeas. I retired and got the itch. 2026 Yamaha XSR700. I love this CP2 engine. Look at the Kawasaki 650 retro bike. It’s really cool. Parallel twin. |

My two choices was between the Kawasaki 650 retro and the Yamaha modern retro. Both would be great for me. I’m not highway riding. Short trips and back roads. 1-2 hour rides at most. I got the Yamaha. Really good deal on it … But would have been as happy with the Kawasaki. Attached File Attached File |

If the bike dash lights up, you need a new battery. If not, you still might need a new battery but there is also another problem. *Automotive electrical systems can nuke the relatively fragile motorcycle electronics if the engine is running. Just connect it to a known good battery, turn the key, and see if the dash display powers up. No need to start the engine. If you use a car or truck for this make sure the engine is not running or you may nuke some very expensive parts. |

Some stuff works down to 6V or so. 12.6/12.8 is all you’re going to see on a good battery here, 13+ means the RV side lithium isn’t isolated correctly. SOC isn’t an indicator of battery health, it’s just charge level. I’ve always had good luck with motorcycle and four wheeler batteries. Years of life out of whatever ended up there from Walmart. |

Here's how my jacket held up to a 15-20mph low side. A few scuffs in the sleeves and belly where there was contact. I still wear it 6 years later. Attached File Here's how my gloves stood up to the same slide. There are a few stitches worn away and the seams are split a little. I also still use these today. Attached File |

Incredible deal I used to read all their trip reports from around the world but I've kind of lost interest in that stuff these days. Long trips sound fun but they are actually miserable for me in real life. I just want to ride around and see interesting things in my area. And I love looking at all the interesting bikes for sale but I don't have room for all that. Better to just have one bike I really like that is comfortable. Less is more. |

I used to post over there a lot, and people were quite helpful on info for wrenching on my bikes. Really good info. Also, the GPS subforums have been very helpful. The libtards are vile. Long time rider for apprx 50 years. (I'm 65) Worst road rash I ever had was after golfing on base, while in the military. I had a worked Kawi 750cc that was a back up to our two race bikes. (Raced for Roxy's Kawasaki out of Chambersburg, PA.) Was leaving base and headed back to our off base house, up in the MD mountains. I was only wearing golf shorts and a Polo, with running type sneakers. (I knew better.) 🙄 Was going faster than I should have been, on a very curvy, steep downhill mtn. road. I blew the rubber oil line from my Lockhart cooler as it went under the bike to the sump. Dumped all my oil all over the back tire at speed. Ruh Roh. Made it through a curve or two, sideways, I saw that I was not going to make the 3rd one. I layed it down and got behind it, before I went off the road, into the woods. Talk about major road rash. I will NEVER forget that shit. Yep- scrubbing dirt/gravel out of the deep abrasions, is as as pleasant as you would expect. 🤕 Wear the Gear, or pay the price. (Lesson learned.) Be Safe out there. Ride like everyone out there, is out to Kill You. Use your mirrors be aware of your surroundings. Have fun. |

Chase, you should be using this down time to organize some riding gear which includes some decent boots. Sign up for a riding class. Motorcycles don't typically crash themselves, as a matter of fact, physics and turning wheels want to stand up on their own. I'm over 70 and got back into riding a year ago and I have really focused on learning riding techniques. I don't ever pass a large empty parking lot without practicing tight turns, accelerating and stopping quick to understand your bike's ability. Always be looking way out ahead and never fixate on something you don't want to hit. Your bike will go where you look. Always fixate on the end of the turn and those twisties will become so much easier. |

Im still biding my time a bit Work has been pretty busy Im all healed up but the knee. Its still giving me a bit of issues. I think most the problem is I wear pants and through the day the wound is always getting tugged on. Very very slow to heal over Anyways itll get there some day Next month or two gets a bit busier as well but Ill find some time to get it back in action. I dont feel it will take much. Been thinking about stitching up the fairing like suggested that got busted the worst |

Just top it off. I agree. The one thing to point out is to check if there is any procedure for getting all the air out of the cooling system. If there is a high spot you need to 'burp' or whatever. |

Maybe a dumb question. But im finally ready to start to see what the issue is Can I hook jumper cables straight to the battery hookups. Currently dont have a battery. Hoping to ensure that's the issue. I remember it being mentioned that the electronics are delicate and not to do it with a started vehicle Hoping running the jumper cables right to the battery hook up on the harness with a off vehicle will be okay |

Just got back yesterday from a couple of days in SE Ohio and WV on a twisty road ride with a new sport touring club my wife and I are looking at. I managed 600 miles and the two routes we took were great, but the first day we had a guy in our group crash on a corner that tightened up a bit as you went thru it. Totaled the bike and then the local methbillies tried to steal it while they went back for a trailer. Danny was ok, just a bruise on his chest/shoulder area because we all wear gear. On the second day we had a shorter loop to get back before rain came-after our lunch stop and turning back, I picked up something large in my tire, lost pressure, and nearly high sided myself to the moon coming out of a corner. I felt the rim contact the tire as I rolled into the corner at a good clip, backed out and the bike started to get nervous… then the beads separated and it was everything I could do to stay in the seat and the handlebars in my hand. My wife made me pack a pump and patch kit this time, but my buddy didn’t notice I wasn’t following him anymore and got 10 miles away before he realized something went wrong. I texted him and he got it but there wasn’t good enough service to see my pinned location until a local woman offered to let him use her WiFi. By the time he got to me, I had the tire plugged, but it was a pretty decent sized hol and I didn’t have a way to cut the extra off. I also couldn’t get it to inflate because the bead was broken. I ended up pulling the bike over on the side stand to get the wheel off of the ground and pounded the middle of the tire with my fist-that worked. Three miles of careful riding saw the tire spit the plug out like it was tobacco, and this time I had an identical experience to the first, just without the tank slapper and rear end stepping out. Problem was, the place I coasted into was wet grass in the ditch and I couldn’t get the side stand down. This time I used two plugs and my buddy rode off to get a knife to cut off the extra. That worked, but we lost so much time that it was starting to get ugly in the sky and a half an hour later it was pitch black at 4:30pm and the rain was coming down so hard the branches were dropping out of the trees and onto the roads. We were still 120 miles from the hotel… it was a looooooooooooong ride home. That fucking SuperCorsa was brand new for that weekend. |

The only time it is a problem is if the car is running because of the high amperage being pushed by the car charging system. |

AGM battery systems are actually slightly higher voltage than lead acid, but it's close enough for testing. |

I didn't fully understand what that meant, but I've never had another issue since moving away from Lithium on my bikes. |
