Wife has been wanting us to get a vette for a while. We’re at a point where I thought it would be no big deal based on my mid 2000s idea of what a vette costs, so I go and “build and price” exactly what I want.

$150k holy fuck

Damn.. I think a C5 is around $70k. Pretty cool car. If I had $150k to throw at an automobile I wouldn't be looking at a 'vette though.

Talk her into a Miata, they're a Hell of a lot of fun. Even more so if she's willing to learn to drive a manual.

C5's are like $15K to $25K.  I just did a quick search and the $25K end is for a nice one with low miles.

just my anecdote,

The fellow I knew ran a successful contracting business. He called on us one day in a bright yellow vette that looked like it was fresh off the track. He peeled out of the parking lot and smoked the tires for a quarter mile. A year later i was holding his payment for failure to perform. He got caught cheating and lost it all.

All the best! Enjoy!

You can get a C5 Corvette for $12-17k.

There are a lot of them floating around here in central Ky.

You can get a new C8 for $70k.

A guy I know ordered one. Even after $25k down, it's still $1200/month.

The guy that does the fleet maintenance for the company I work for (in our area) had one. When he decided to get rid of it his dad wanted to buy it from him. His dad got in and I think drove it a little and then couldn’t get out of it because it was so low and uncomfortable (to him).

I’ve never even sat in a Vette except for a ‘57 one of my girlfriends dad owned back in the 90’s.

With the wide array of readily accessible ED medications on the market, why do old men still want vettes?

Not gonna lie I was really considering a 2002 as my new daily when I went car shopping from January to March.

Not regretting the RX 350 I bought, and still haven't had my midlife crisis car purchase yet either.
