In 89 and 90, chrysler offered the 2.5 turbo with either their performance manual trans, or the three speed auto trans. This was mainly to tide them over until v6 production could meet demand. Although the 4cyl turbo engine pit up better numbers and got better gas mileage.

If I'm cruising along with the ac off at around 65mph, I get 25 to 28mpg in mine. I now have a slightly larger turbo, and better I take and exhaust Manifold. It's awesome. My wife was mad I brought it home. Now she loves it and wishes I would let her drive it year round.

I've only seen one of those turbo minivans in real life.

The epitome of the station wagon was the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.

It was so humungeous, it had a skylight.

What do you mean "elsewhere?" You can buy that in the US. They are cool AF.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat, except I have discovered I don't like being low anymore. Also, the wheels it comes with (especially if you get the black optics package) are ugly as shit and I shouldn;t have to replace the wheels on a $130k vehicle.

Up until recently I always drove used shit boxes that I got cheap while I bought the wife the new car. I had an Oldsmobile with the trunk seat in mint condition that I got for a song. I got more compliments on that car than anything I’ve had since. Old guys would follow me in or out of stores asking me how I like it, where’d I get it, etc and then tell me stories about their time in one with their families. It was kinda nice.

We all miss it

I swear to God I spent hours last week looking at old wagons for sale.

I like them.

Always loved them.

Growing up we had a ‘69 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate with a 396.  Parents sold that and bought a Datsun 510 wagon. I learned to drive in that and Dads ‘73 VW van.

Around ‘96 or ‘98 there was a ‘68 Chevelle station wagon for sale at a tire store.  Original owner, looked like it hadn’t been washed since it was new.  Total basket case, but it was solid. They were asking something like $1000 for it.  I modded that car in my head a dozen times and went back to buy it and was too late.

I had already made up my mind to hang doors off a two door Chevelle on it, move the B pillar back to match and use the back door as a skin to lengthen the quarter panel.

I agree but most American wagons were ugly as hell.

I love the '90's Caprice wagons, the Dodge Magnums and I absolutely love the Ford Flex, don't care what you think about them fight me.

You see all kinds of cool stuff cruising the Autobahn, but it was debadged MB battlewagons with dinner plates for brake discs that were always blowing by at 280 kph. The preferred transport of the well-heeled Geschäftsmann.

Audi is killing it on styling lately. Couple in the neighborhood that are drop-dead beautiful...I just don't trust their mechanicals enough to buy one.

Some SUVs have a great station wagon vibe.

Squarebody, GMT400, and GMT800 Suburbans are one. Jeep SJs and Grand Cherokees are another. You can even throw many Land Cruiser variants and 4Runners in there.

But CUVs like Foresters and RAV4s or whatever? Those definitely feel more like hatchbacks.

The Germans make awesome wagons even today.

The Acura wagon of a few years ago looked nice too, but only came in a four banger.

My first car was a blue Volare wagon. Four speed manual OD with a 360ci V8. Good thing gas was .85 a gallon.

Guy in the late 90s used to bring what looked like his great aunt's AMG wagon to the track and smoke a bunch of, fox body's, camaros & vettes. Back then, they didn't have much more than a badge so the fender flares, widebody kits & spoilers didn't give away the 400hp under the hood

Little restomod nothing too fancy. Original 289 car swapped for a late model 302 with gt40 heads and Cobra intake backed by an AOD. Mustang II front suspension. Should be a fun little cruiser. Purchased as unfinished project, so far have completely gone thru all the wiring on the car, have to build a fuel system then it will be ready to fire. 0 Miles on rebuilt engine and trans.

Correct. My wife drives one. Only 250 imported to America.

The one I really wanted for her was the Jaguar XF RS Sportbrake. 550 HP stcok and tuneable to 650 like my Jaguar F Type R. None were imported to America that I'm aware of.

Yes, that's the car they used for the Family Truckster (along with a little bit of custom bodywork).

It had a crappy low power 302.

I had the first one in Texas.  I had a recall every month for two years on that car, which is long as I had it.  It had a lot of torque but the gearing was long.  It wasn’t really fast until about 60, at which point it turned into a land missle.
