Up until recently I always drove used shit boxes that I got cheap while I bought the wife the new car. I had an Oldsmobile with the trunk seat in mint condition that I got for a song. I got more compliments on that car than anything I’ve had since. Old guys would follow me in or out of stores asking me how I like it, where’d I get it, etc and then tell me stories about their time in one with their families. It was kinda nice.

Always loved them.
Growing up we had a ‘69 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate with a 396. Parents sold that and bought a Datsun 510 wagon. I learned to drive in that and Dads ‘73 VW van. Around ‘96 or ‘98 there was a ‘68 Chevelle station wagon for sale at a tire store. Original owner, looked like it hadn’t been washed since it was new. Total basket case, but it was solid. They were asking something like $1000 for it. I modded that car in my head a dozen times and went back to buy it and was too late. I had already made up my mind to hang doors off a two door Chevelle on it, move the B pillar back to match and use the back door as a skin to lengthen the quarter panel. |

I agree but most American wagons were ugly as hell.
I love the '90's Caprice wagons, the Dodge Magnums and I absolutely love the Ford Flex, don't care what you think about them fight me. |

The Germans make awesome wagons even today.
The Acura wagon of a few years ago looked nice too, but only came in a four banger. My first car was a blue Volare wagon. Four speed manual OD with a 360ci V8. Good thing gas was .85 a gallon. |

Yes, that's the car they used for the Family Truckster (along with a little bit of custom bodywork). It had a crappy low power 302.
