I used to work at a place that made off road wheel and would stamp 3/8" steel in to wheel centers.
We called it Kong since it sent a mild tremor in the shop. It was a two handed activation but the south of the border brothers would jam one button so they could remove a center and add another piece of stock a lot faster. I don't want to be around if one of them ever mistimed their work.

I've had the unlucky privilege to be around two industrial accidents in my career.

One was a fatality on a large boring mill. The second was a crushing injury on a 40 ton forklift that left my best friend in ICU for 3 weeks and luckily he survived and doesn't really have any long term effects outside of "phantom pains" once in a great while. I never want to see a third.

Having worked around a lot of hydraulic press brakes I ain’t watching that.

OP continues to make me wonder.

We had a 24in butterfly valve with operator and about a 25fr run of pipe fall out of the wall and crush a contractors head a couple years ago... not cool

A real good friend of mine died in a press. He didn't lock/tag it out before attempting a repair, crawled in to fix it and some one walked by and turned it on.

That's fine by me, as long as it's not a $20 download.

That shit was brutal. Looked like instant shock for that guy.

Happened to a guy at my dads works in the late 70's. 200ton press smashed his right hand totally flat. Mid 20's and a big softball star in the area. Lost the right hand. Stopped playing ball for a while. Heard he started playing a few years after. Was a really nice kid.

Industrial mixer accident. Pouring powder in while the machine is running and the blades catch the bag and pull him in. This guy actually survived.

In the hospital

I told myself "Don't do it."
My mouse hovered over the spoiler tag. "Don't do it. Listen, you'll regret it, you KNOW you'll regret it, you always do. Don't do it."
I clicked on it

I closed it.

I don't know what it is, it's like an unstoppable compulsion. Must be the same thing that drives someone to stick their arm in a hydraulic press.

Worked in a ship with a small punch press used for broaching and coining. Lots of people there missing fingers or parts of them.
I watched it double when the clutch stuck and did not catch the ram. Operator used pliers to load and unload the parts and it mangled them.

I am sure you have heard it but medically his body went into "shock".  There are many types but its the reason he seems catatonic yet functioning.  Its a response to save your body from whatever event occured.  Ironically while its a defense mechanism it can also kill you by itself if its severe enough (in addition to the cause if it was physical).
