My mule deer. Have 2 elk tags to fill but it’s been so hot not much has been moving.

At least the views are nice.

This year sucked, but we knew it was going to the guys were all screwed on when they could hunt, 3 could go at the start of season, 2 others were gone out of state for work at the start of season, and they came late and still went home early..We hunted one of our worst places, simply because of logistics of getting everyone in and out, the weather was pretty crappy, and we came out a week early because we needed more supplies and one broken buggy...Next year will be a big hunt year....

That buggy is a 92 Ford F-350 runs a stock 460 with headers, C-6 tranny runs 5:13 gears, Detroit out back, tru-trac up front, runs all moly axles and drive plates up front...tires are 44" boggers on 12" bart steel wheels...Nothing fancy, this truck won't get modded much from where it is, we are building 2 new buggys for 2 of the guys, their current buggys will become backups when we need them..the other Ford is an 89, F-250 that had been mostly built by someone else, it had a 60 up front but only 4:56 gears ands open diffs, we fixed a bunch of screwy shit the original owner did, then regeared it to 5:38's with Detroit/tru-trac just like the others, same for the 44" boggers..

This one has a 351W in it for power...

Ok.  I’m jealous.

I looked at the harvest reports that are done per county.
The two counties I hunt in are the top 2 number of deer harvested. Let’s just say that it’s pretty high pressure on public land.
My gun season spot up north isn’t as busy. Next year I’m gonna take a weekend during bow up there.  Less pressure, better time for me.

They are delicious.

She got two chubby females last season. But this is her first stag.

Well first sika stag. She's taken white-tail bucks before.

But sika meat is as good as people say it is.

Looks like a solid spine shot.

Wasn't as high as the angle of the pic makes it look. Definitely higher than planned but it worked-right lung was in 3 pieces.

Neither one of us are complaining, happy kid for sure. Third deer in 4 years. Only saw one last year and she waited for a good shot that never came. I told her I was happier about her waiting than I'd have been if she'd have gotten that one.

AKSnowRider glad you scored!  I have to hunt in Area 13 and only saw one caribou almost a mile away - too far to determine sex (I'm in a bulls only area) so no luck there.  Apparently only caribou were killed far back from Eurika summit - I saw no racks going by before we left.  AKFnG said heavy snowfall killed lots of caribou this past winter.
I saw a bull moose within shooting distance but it was only about a 24incher.  Better luck next year maybe???

I was able to fill a tag on the opener too.

Finished packing everything in the freezer today. Deboned and trimmed everything except the front quarters (I like to cook them whole). Haven't decided what to do with the grind pile/hinds yet.

I like plain antelope meat but I'm thinking on doing a big batch of breakfast sausage.

Inlaws gave me covid. Fuckers knew they were still sick and came anyways. So my elk hunt isnt happening. Im too sick to hike at 11000' with a 60lb pack for 5 days at 20-40F. Fucking thousands of dollars and months of prep down the damn drain
Its not like i was looking forward to it for a year or so.

But at least my obese inlaws can eat all my ribeyes, steaks and fuck up my couch woth their enormous asses.
And hey, since im not hunting. I get to telework while baking and filling the trough for these lazy landwhales
