I aquired this 5000 gallon water tank but it has a dent  on it from resting on its side for a year. The walls are 3/4” thick.
Attachment Attached File

I have the gasket and pipe for the holes on the bottom but need to pull this dent out so the gasket can sit flush.

There is an access port from the top than I can get into it.
Its 10’ wide by 10’ tall.
Thanks.

Fill it with water, cap it, and wrap it tightly with black plastic. Maybe the sun will pop it out.

Yeah I've install more than a few 1500 gallon tanks.
I'll give you industry secret that very few know about.
After a few years off installing tanks for cattle, domestic, and land scape you learn a few things.
So here goes.......... Put water in it.
Install the fitting, put a valve on it and fill. You might want to use a flex hose a foot or so long to allow for movement.

Pretty much fill it, if it don't bump out on it's own you can run a heat gun around the boarders.

Confined space. Not only no but fuck no. Don't do that unless you are confined space trained and have the proper equipment. You'll need two "spotters", safety harness, a hoist, two air monitors [one for you to wear and one to be left near the opening of the tank].

I fear dying stupidly more than death itself.

Imagine your relatives trying to explain to people that you died fixing a dent in a plastic water tank.

My first instinct was to fill it with water but your idea sounds like way more fun. As long as OP records himself doing it.

Water or compressed air.

Water would be the safer one.  Compressed air could be faster, but more loud and explody if the whole tank pops like a balloon.

Cap it somehow and fill it with water to the brim.  If it doesn't pop out from just the water pressure, put a ratchet strap around if and cinch it down around the "waist".  That squeeze and additional pressure will pop out the weakest point.

Try it on a water bottle to see what I'm talking about.

OP is in Texas, the water WILL get hot!  I was in west Texas in early September and it was hot as hell!  But put black plastic over it to increase the solar heat.

Not going to lie. I am trying to devise a way to set of a tannerite charge in there without blowing the thing up or punching a hole in the tank. Maybe lower a tannerite target in there taped on an AR 500 plate.

Contained boom or will it fuck the tank up

The pressure will split the tank, it won't be able to escape fast enough, but the boom will be epic.

Video please.

Just thread a rubber bung in that lower hole, it'll seal up just fine.

Not sure how you'd get it out without losing most of the water though.

Personally I'd leave it lay in the hot sun for a few hours with a something black over it and a ratchet strap, it'll go round again.

Melt end of hot glue sticks.  Stick to side.  Let cool.  Pull.  Repeat as needed.

Set on stand with dent at 6 o clock.   Put halogen light under it,  leave plenty of room so big area heats evenly.  Pull dent and have something ready to make flange flat again.

I've done a lot of confined space training, it's crazy the special powers they give you, and the special suit that makes you smaller.

Confined space training essentially boils down to this - don't be dumb, have a buddy, have a plan to get out, and if air is an issue bring some

Eta: Sorry, thats the useful part of what the training boils down to. 90% of the actual training is about locks and signs
