Because then the movie would have to be named "The Furies" not "The Warriors".
Also, if your opponent knows hand to hand fighting and you don't, a bat doesn't help you that much. As I was once told, if you pull a knife out in a fight, you better know how to use it, otherwise you're just giving the other guy something to stab you with and a reason to do it. |

I saw that movie in the theatre when it came out. It was wild experience, never seen anything like it except Apocalypse Now which also was an "out there" type of movie. Made an impression on me as I was high school age and didn't know anything about gangs and territory or how in America you could be killed for crossing another gangs territory. Today it's totally excepted, celebrated and government programs are used to further gang activity.

Honestly, the name The Furies should have been reserved for a female gang--which would be an allusion to the ancient Greek Furies that would haunt and torment those that are thieves, murderers, and who commit mortal crimes.
Especially since this film is a retelling of an ancient Greek story called Anabasis. |

Was hot as fuck. Warriors had cut off sleeves and kept relatively cool. Furies wore multiple layers and their face makeup dripped in their eyes.
