Should be fine as long as you remember to wear your mask and don't get confused between the log and your hand.

Do you want OSHA because this is how you get OSHA!

From the thread title I knew it would be a home-brew log splitter

Should have used a treadmill to drive it, and magnets to stabilize ax heads.

Hard to believe that's in use in North America.  Could believe it in India.   Anywhere in Asia really, and Africa somewhere.  Tons of videos with similar shit on Ogrish or whatever.

Funny how a guy could run a machine like that for decades and not get hurt, but lose his hand under the lawn mower.

You won't get complacent around something like that, an 8 lb spinning  ax wheel of death keeps you on your toes.

I bought a 28 ton Honda engined wood splitter in January which cost me close to 1K, watching that tells me I made the right choice.

Looks like it would be very easy to operate with the remaining hand.
Link Posted: 8/18/2020 7:21:58 PM EDT

Id be breaking all kinds of things with that, a least till I got hurt.

I've seen a bunch of these homemade log splitter videos on YouTube. The one thing they all have in common is they are splitting soft, easy to split wood. A log from an Oak tree would stop them dead in its tracks and cause it to fall apart.

Either he's going to wind up eating that maul when it departs for orbit, or it's going to eat him while he's splitting wood and flying high off of a half rack of keystone light.

I'm pretty sure that even watching that video is an OSHA violation.

My first in-laws had a family run sawmill business that had been in operation for damn near 100 years.  Walking through the mill was like stepping back into a time machine.  A time machine that could kill you at any moment.  It was fucking awesome.
