I found this S&W 19-4 .357 today. I have $450.00 in it.
I figure it must have been made around 1979 or so. It's the last of the "pinned and recessed" Model 19s. If memory serves it was with the 19-5 that the P&R went away. It's got some cosmetic "warts" but since it was set-up with target hammer/trigger/stocks it seemed to be worth it. I generally don't mess with "modern" 6" revolvers all that much but this one sort of "spoke to me" if that makes any sense. I thought it would make a capable companion with my .357 lever-action carbine that I'd not have to worry about if it got another "wart" when out and about but given what the stocks are worth these day I might switch them out.  There is no cutting along the top-strap above the forcing cone so I suspect it must have had very few if any .357 rounds through it and it's tight as a tick so that was a plus.....It will get some .357 through it tomorrow. Excellent revolver!!! I prefer N frames, but the 19 had a great name "combat masterpiece "

Its nice but I prefer shorter barrel. The 19-2 is perhaps the prettiest and most effective pistol i would choose.

Picked this up after consulting arfcom on brutal recoiling wheel gats. Its a bit too heavy for my tastes, hoping one day S&W make a scandium frame version. Next two wheel gats on my list are the 329PD and 327PD.

I bought myself a brand new Model 19 Combat Masterpiece, 4 inch, orange insert front sight, adjustable white outline rear sight, and a shoulder rig to carry it around in for my 21st birthday in 1981.
Gave it to a girlfriend a few years later to take on a road trip for protection. She came back without it, claimed it was stolen. I believe it financed a weekend of hard partying....

Other than a 5" Victory and a 5" 1899 in .32-20 the only other 6" S&Ws I have is a 1920s era nickled M&P and a Model 17.

I'll play!
 SW 547 with age-appropriate revolver-correct Nyclads. ;) I got lucky on GB one day and it was a big surprise getting the 'you won' notification. Original stocks and serial # matching blue cardboard box are in storage somewhere with the other gun boxes. It's one of my favorite pieces being its 9mm with no moon clips. I feel bad every time I take it out shooting, but it usually only comes out when I bring a first timer to the pistol range (almost never these days). |

Revolvers are good I do like my Smith & Wesson's.
 ETA: My daughters favorite gun. Remington 1858 cartridge conversion. in .45 Colt.  |
