 Himmler's INSANE Reason for Recruiting non-Germans in the Waffen-SS TLDW: Basically, due to complete pusedo-science and pusedo-histroy, other races at other points in time had various different "injections" of Aryan/Nordic blood in them. Therefore, through weird Social Darwinism theory, the Third Reich could harvest the "Racial Souls" of those who'd died in combat, because their "Racial Souls" would live on and be absorbed through their comrades who survived, thereby beginning a purification process. Basically, straight nutter-butter stuff. Also brings up how more than 50% of the Waffen-SS was not "ethnically pure", and hardly elite. I'd post in the history forum, but it's slow, and I know WWII stuff is interesting to a lot in GD. |

I doubt it was that.
That was probably just an excuse. The SS had to fight for weapons, use foreign ones, and generally were looked down on by the regular Heer soldiers. Thus if they couldn't even get weapons, they probably couldn't even get ethnic "Aryans" into it. Thus, the recruitment of foreigners. |

I remember as a very young boy I had some sort of counter-culture appreciation for NAZI Germany. Mostly because they were labeled as 'right wing' and anti Commie, but I didn't understand who they really were.
Then in a history class in Junior High or High school we watched a video about the cult-like religion and outright satanism surrounding the most ardent NAZI leadership. Immediately I recognized them for what they really were. Living demons, devils, trash, evil, etc. Whatever you want to call them, it wasn't enough. May they all burn in hell. |

That wouldn't be a true assessment....Heer soldiers in Germany proper aspired to be Waffen SS much like line cops want to be SWAT.. Same mentality of "specialness"...By the end of the war, nothing mattered any more, and foreign units were created that would have never been created prior. |

Lots of BS on the Waffen SS. Point in fact most of the foreign volunteers didnt share Germans racial ideology and joined to smash the reds. Keep in mind outside of Germany none of these guys grew up learning and being exposed to racial propaganda, especially in Scandinavian countries.
