I grabbed it because it's cross-platform so I can play with the wife.
Turned out to be surprisingly fun. It's simple, chaotic, and it just works. Nothing more exciting than dropping a daisy chain of airstrikes and arty at your feet as you frantically leapfrog backwards while being overrun by a swarm of bugs. I bought it a week ago. Got through the tutorial and one mission, hard crashed my PC, something that hasn't happened for years. Did some research, found out the anti-cheat system is a memory hog and the game itself doesn't play nice with Radeon 7xxx series cards. Diddled some stuff for stability, got it running, got one more mission in, then had to go do real life stuff. 3 hours invested, 15 minutes of gameplay.
Then tried getting back in later, server time out after server time out after server time out all weekend, never got back in. Haven't touched it since, hopefully they've got the servers sorted, and a hotfix from them or AMD for the memory issues and GPU issues. |

New patch hit this morning, unfortunately still hasn't fixed the server overloading and rewards sometimes not paying out. They've now spent a week trying to figure out those two issues. |

It is 3rd person and you can toggle it so when you aim down sights you go first person.

I enjoyed Aliens Fireteam and this seems like it'll satisfy that itch. Downloading now, even though it appears I won't be able to play due to the server issues.

Man, I must be doing something horribly wrong. I can't beat the first mission.
First I couldn't figure out how to get civilians to even appear. I was just running around the marker on the map thinking they were inside the building that was marked on the map. Eventually there was a ridiculous amount of robots and I couldn't do anything without dying. Literally kept dying every minute for 20 minutes until I quit the mission. Then I Googled that there's a console you need to press to spawn the civilians. I found it and pressed the console and 3 civilians came running out and ran towards wherever it was they were going. They would either all die or one or two would make it past the robots. Eventually there were 100 robots and I couldn't kill em fast enough and just got overrun entirely. I run out of ammo quickly and get overrun by the robots. I can't just kill the robots as they drop in because they drop in on a different part of the map than where I need to spawn the civilians. I can't just spawn the civilians because the robots will just keep massing out of sight until finally making their way to me and I get overrun.  |

Ok so I tried it for a 5th time and this time other players actually showed up from my SOS beacon. We made quick work of the robots while escorting all the civilians. Super easy with other players.
Is this not meant to be a solo game? lol. |

Love this game. It is brutal, but never feels unwinnable.
It's crazy how popular it is. Last time i looked had more players on steam than Destiny 2 or Starfield. And that doesn't even include PS5 numbers. Servers are a bit dicey, but once they get that straightened out this will be my primary game for awhile. |

These escort missions are very tough Even with my kid we couldn't get more than 6 extracted. I avoid them for easier missions |

Objective was to destroy 3 different facilities. Squad abandoned mission before we knocked out any. Played a bit more and really digging it
the commands to drop items from ship are interesting and take time to get used to noticed the bugs are a bit easier but can get overwhelming very quickly - still working out gear but anything fast lol, shotgun seems to work well but reload times... the bots, the DMR seems to work very well with the mp7 clone and either light or heavy MG |

Looks like there's a patch inbound tomorrow to address some of the issues. Apparently the game's code is simply not built for so many players. Increasing server sizes alone won't really do anything and would make the issues worse.
Absolutely fascinating how much this game has taken off in popularity. |

Was able to put in some time this weekend. Hit level 21. Playing with the same groups of people makes all the difference. Hope they can get the servers stable and upsized so everyone can play.

Apparently I’ve been playing almost 3 hours. I can now see why the kids like the gaming. It was nice playing with guys I shoot with regularly.
The game is wild. I haven’t played a game like this in a long time, the closest game would definitely be destiny 2. Just endless bugs. So many bugs. |

New patch is out.
I was able to get into the game by joining someone on my friend's list. But the game was unplayable. It was stuttering and lagging like crazy. I left that team and my game was still horrible when I hosted my own mission. edit: must have just been a temporary issue because late last night and this morning the game has been fine. |
