Let's see how country or city the folks are here on this fine fourm....
Go.... Red |
Yes. Many times as a teenager but not a lot in adult life. I am very comfortable around horses though and would not hesitate to get on one.

I was told as a lad, "Every Southern Gentleman should be able to ride a horse, tie a bow tie, and enjoy tobacco". Appreciation of whiskey was a given.
Once on my honeymoon. The next day, my lower back hurt like hell.
Rode many horses. None were mine. Love it, but for me a little goes a long way. With a back injury, I’m finished with them. Beautiful animals.
I rode a crazy (somewhat wild spirited) horse. It was scary at times, but fun.
One thing you learn quick is trotting sucks. Slower or faster is fine, but in between is rough if the stirrups are too long and you don’t have good technique. |
Quoted: I grew up in the suburbs. No fucking way I rode a horse. View Quote I grew up in the suburbs as well, but we kept a horse on a friend's farm, not too far away. I used to ride it all the time. My first experience on a horse was when I was 3 riding w/ my dad. Horse got spooked, reared up, I slipped off the back, the horse fell and landed on my ankle breaking it. Good times. |
I grew up dating a dairy girl riding horses before she went to nursing school... still in counseling but it was a great ride.
Edit: she wasn't a redhead for the leg humper trifecta |
Many times. Not for about 20 years though. Just kinda got old after a while.
Just sold our last two back in September. Yes, I have been on a horse before.
Oh yeah...fuck those knuckleheaded pieces of shit. Ain't worth the trouble.
I worked on a farm in high school. I've driven tractors, made hay, shoveled shit out of a barn. Never ridden a horse. There's a horse shed on my property from the previous owner that needs a little work. I'll fix it up eventually but I dont plan on ever getting horses.
Yes since my family owned horses and mules. My wife has been pestering me for years wanting to buy a horse. It"s one of the few things I have flatly refused her.
Grew up with horses. Worked on a couple of ranches as a yuts.
Yep, when I was a kid. Been thrown off a couple of times as well. One impact giving me a nasty wrist break. Of course both times I was thrown off was on horses with no saddles or any other gear, and they both decided to take off like a bat out of hell.
My very first paying job was working for PayJay Arabians.
Horses are dicks. |
Yes. And have been thrown off a few times. But, I was informed by GD that this is not the same as being thrown off a bull because the bull will attack you and the horse will run off.
A couple of times as a teen. Never became proficient though.
We put our last horse down last September. I do miss them but on the other hand I am sooooo glad to be out of the horse business.
Rode many, broke a couple, and spent alot of money in my early years trying to ride bucking horses.
Bought my first one in 1967 and owned at least one up until about 10 years ago.
Started riding stock seat (western), transitioned to jumpers, and then dressage. All of them were sweeties. |
For hours and hours and hours and hours and hours then days and days and days. A lot.
Hell, I have owned hay burners. They were like overgrown dogs, no matter where I went they were always following me. If I was working on something they would be nosey and stick their face into everything, knock my beer over, knock my toolbox over. It was like having 1500 pound toddlers.
Dad had a couple when I was a teen. I rode them around a fair bit, but they were more like giant puppies in his and his wife's eyes.
I'd like to get one, but that'll be years in the future I imagine. |
